I personally don’t think that this has much to do with the crime rate and shootings dropping but what do I know. Sure shootings and crime are down, but hanging out at an intersection for 15 minutes is likely not the root cause.
To me it sounds like Hochul jumped the gun and didn’t need to pass all those gun laws because we’re headed in the right direction already. At least this article points out criminals in a small area are the problem and not us. Will politicians pay attention to that or change their approach? No, because it’s not about reducing crime.

The police aren't there to ticket drivers and arrest people, although they can if they see a crime in progress or a traffic violation. But that's not the point.

Putting police where the most crimes are being committed. Sounds reasonable to me. What needs to be seen is whether this drives crime to different areas. But this appears to be a good first step.

I agree but it’s for 15 minutes. Yes I’m sure it will just push crime to another area or they have just killed a bunch of gang members and they have decided death doesn’t pay up to a certain point.
