I liked the video, but his statement of why don’t we build a new plant doesn’t sit well with me. Ok you bought some existing ones, but that doesn’t mean you’re producing more. I get production is up slightly and they have issues and limitations.
I like that he said we support law enforcement and support a 2a group. I also like that he said take a kid shooting or hunting, but with the cost and availability of ammo I have certainly cut back on my shooting. I’m not handing out boxes of ammo to kids to plonk with at todays scarcity and prices.

I agree. Simply acquiring factories isn't going to be adding much production, even if they were mismanaged/in financial straits like Remington was. The bigger issue is supply chain problems which he alludes to. Furthermore, the fact of the matter is none of these companies wants to expand the capital to build a new facility if the demand is going to crash again in a few years if a pro-gun Republican gets into office. A local FFL by me went out of business during the "Trump Slump" and blamed it on that (though I suspect there were other reasons too). Having Democrats in office spur gun and ammo sales like it or not.
Some bigger concerns I have seem as those ammo manufacturing is consolidating under just a few manufacturers. If something happens to them there's even less available.
I'm actually somewhat surprised he didn't say be sure to join and support the NRA. Most manufacturers of guns and ammo in the past have slobbered all over the NRA's knob. Makes me think a corner has turned if they're no longer pushing the NRA bit.

I agree on the consolidation. I think there are only 3 makers of ammo at this point in the USA.
I’m truly sick of the supply chain raw materials bullshit. This is fucking 2021 and we can’t pull copper out of the ground? If that’s the case just fucking end it now.

If you owned an ammunition company, and you could sell all inventory and foreseeable production runs for 100% more profit than 1.5 years ago, would you be interested in lowering your unit pricing and profits?

I fail to see an issue here. If ammo makers balk at the current market price for copper then that's on them. fF a commodity goes up in price due to demand and has limited availability, the high bidder wins. Sucks to be them I guessthe copper is for electric cars now not ammo

Never said Remington was in the mining business. I was referring to the mining companies. We need to stop these stupid shortages to get our economy going. These stupid shortages are getting to be across the board and it’s ridiculous.

People aren’t buying it as much anymore. I walked into cabelas a few weeks ago and they must have had 1000 boxes of .223/.556 on their shelves at $0.65/round. No k e was buying it.
Not for nothing but you seem to be thinking to emotional about all of this, instead of rational! Were you not around during the last time we had these shortage's?

Although looking today it seems ammo prices are up at our favorite online retailer. The common calibers seem to be up $0.10/round over the past few months. Yuck.

Yes very emotional. I’m crying at the gun store counter right now.
My point is there is a fine line between capturing enough raw materials to make goods for people to buy and staying where you are at and producing not enough materials to supply your customers. At some point they will go elsewhere or do something else.
My point is I’m sick of hearing excuses and want reasonable work arounds. This is a fucking joke that we are short raw materials for everything? It just doesn’t make sense to me. I could careless. I have stored of ammo to last me 5-6 years.
Yes I was around the last ammo run and what’s your point with that? IMO this doesn’t compare to the last one. Many more moving chess peices here than last.
I don’t really believe the new gun owners are the cause of this shortage. I don’t think the new gun owners are out there shooting boxes and boxes of ammo as claimed. In fact we’ve seen many .177’s on here selling their like new riffles as I predicted. You will see more. Many of these new gun owners are transitory and they will pass those guns on to people like you and I at a loss.
Maybe I’m wrong, it happens, but time will tell.
I will stick to what I said and these shortages are a joke. We need solutions to solve them and nearly all companies are sitting around doing nothing about them.
Now all the sudden GM has chips to keep their production lines running? What happened? We all the sudden just started making more chips? I don’t believe it. GM claims they are working with the chip makers and not a supplier now. Right tell me another one. It took GM years and years to think to do that? Nah, not buying it.
