New semi-auto 12G shotgun-not bad

Got my first Semi auto 12G this weekend. Im thinking of getting into skeet and trap more next year. anyrate its a tri star gas operated bugger.....very nice.....I will say not a big fan of the receiver........the receiver is anodized BLUE?! its a 30" gun and its LONG compared to all others in my safe....very long!! the skeet choke is pretty wide pattern ive noticed..........I may wrap the blue just cuz its a little Blingy for me....I wanted the raptor which was camo'd but again this is a 30" barrel they say better for clays...we will see........

work great. I did have one FTF but that was like with the 2nd group of shells and has never happed again....so far...but we will see....will get out again this weekend I think to try some clays at home. If I wrap the blue I can use for the feild too. Ive always had my pump for turkey and a barrel for slugs for deer..........but I like to have a variety to choose from.......maybe do some squirrel with it this coming weekend too..........

just wanted to report on a new one in the safe is not a bad weekend..........

Haha! Yeah, sorry...I knew what you meant and I think I even saw this same shotgun years ago, but was just kidding. Still, I was curious about the pic and DANG, while I blue is my favorite color, I have to admit that is a bit out of place on a shotgun!

you will for sure be the talk of the gun club with that thing...Like I say I may wrap it or something to keep the glare out of the other shooters eyes...LOL

Its crazy for sure but they figure not hunting and the guy at the gun shop told me......deer dont see blue.....LOL

but yeah...BLUE..and the red is RED anodized..its sporting gun not a hunter so they went for the pretty look.........

Now that I think about it, years back I did see that gun online while shopping for a shotgun and was tempted because as noted earlier, blue is my favorite color (and I actually have a penchant for anodized metal). Still, I do have to agree that it is fairly out of place.

If you're up to it, maybe consider trying to strip it down and apply a light overcoat of black paint or other color of your choice, making sure to mask off as needed)?

I had an issue with a weird factory coating that was worn away on a used gun I purchased:



The factory authorized shop told me that they could strip the finish off and clear coat it for $150, but I would have to remove the trigger components out of the frame and send it in.

When I got it back, the clear coat (was told it was Duplicolor) was imo very uneven and rough in spots. I've used clear coat spray on some of my hobbies over a hundred times, so I know it can easily be a mess (even for me...sometimes it's the paint itself or humidity, etc.), but I felt after that I should've just done it myself. ymmv

I like it. And I have a red in the youth model. TriStar recommends running a box of heavy loads for proper break in. I think I used up some goose loads I had laying around.
Hey and if you don't like the anodized finish just watch other people drool over it when they see it in person.

yeah ive run heavy loads in it so far. shot 6 magnum loads sat and hope to do more upcoming weekend. I shoot some at the house but wifey dont like me to shoot too much or too long?! we are in a rural area but no one within the 500' mark per town code so as far as im concerned they can deal with it. others shoot too.
the Previous owner of our house shot skeet all the time in back yard so.......
My wifes job is to worry too much!!!
Ive heard many say its an old tale to run heavy loads through it first but when I saw tri-star recommended I figured thats the way im going. They know their product...if it helps to break in fine as again plan to be a skeet gun so it will see 1 1/8 as heaviest later in the winter so for now gonna shoot high brass stuff that goes BOOM......

ON another note wow does a skeet choke have quite wide pattern to it?! did some patterning and put the skeet choke in and jeez..thats a big circle at even 30-40 feet.
