I think it’s dumb too and they should have done the .357 sig instead of .380. No capacity gain at all and as stated above inferior caliber and more expensive than 9mm??
They would do .40sw over .357s. I'd bet money on it

Gotta tell you...I have an older relative that was recol-averse to the Shield 9mm. They had problems racking the slide due to hand strength issues. They got a Shield 380 EZ and they love it. I tried it and found the "full-sized" pistol in 380 was a ton of fun to shoot.

This makes sense. 380 should have lower recoil. Same reason some people choose a G42 over a G43 as they find the recoil of 9mm in a small gun to be snappy. It isn’t for me but I can’t understand why. If being offered in 380 allows more people to carry when they otherwise wouldn’t, then I am all for it.

Most of the people I know who choose G42 over G43 do so because it’s less snappy (not everyone but most of the people I know) It’s why the shield EZ in 380 is more popular than the 9mm version. There’s something to be said for a softer recoiling, softer shooting version of a 9mm pistol. The fact that it can use the same holsters as the 9mm is a plus. My G44 uses the same holsters as my G19, that plus it was a softer shooting version of my G19, was the two big reasons why I added a G44. It would be nice if sig did a 22LR version of the P365.

You have a point and I think this will be in the table for my wife’s first gun. She’s small framed and weighs about 120 lbs.

10 round capacity? Interesting. I think the LCP max is the 380 to beat though. 12 round capacity in a smaller foot print and I'm sure much less expensive.
As said in previous posts there is a big demand for guns like the Shield EZ 380. Sig is just jumping on the bandwagon with it's highly successful 365. The target market isn't for guys with big paws but with smaller framed persons who may be recoil sensitive. A .22LR would be the next step. The Mosquito has been out of the line for some time . . .
The other advantage is the ability to build the different calibers on the same frame. Not a lot of retooling keeps it profitable for Sig.
I remember when the P365 first came out . . . I was working at one of the largest Sig Elite dealers in the country. We had orders for hundreds of them and they would show up by the pallet load. We had to have a bucket brigade to get them into the front office, get them into the log books, and then to the training room where the salespeople would call the customers. Then we had process the pickups with background checks and finalize the special order payments. Some days it was nothing but 365s going out the doors. $449 LEO/MIL pricing, $499 for the regular Joes.

For a compact 9mm, the 43 is a very shootable pistol that can be used at day-long courses (especially with a red dot optic).
The 42 is very manageable for even small frame women. That said, many of them may still prefer the P238 with it's all-metal construction and superior trigger.

IMO sig makes a way nicer gun. Ruger semi auto pistols have cheap sights and cheap coatings.
Sig needs to reduce magazine costs though.
I think it is a great offering!!! The 365 in 9mm is a little ass kicker!! I have shot the 365 in 9mm a few times and dont think I can get great follow up shots. Little pistols in 9mm are not easy to shoot well. I have fired the G42 and g43 back to back and can say I do shoot the 42 much faster. Im willing to bet there are a fair number of people out there that have weaker hands and lesser shooting skills than me the would reap even larger benefits from the reduced recoil in such a small pistol.
