I guess they shouldn't have jacked the prices up a few years back. It drove a LOT of people, like me, to get a lifetime license. Now the state gets nothing from me.

Sure, I paid $600. That’s 6 years of license at the old rate, and I got it close to 10 years ago. They’ve lost money on me at this point.
The State is going to lose even more when the costs go up. Oh, promise, they are going to rise!
Does that mean they can legally hunt deer with a rifle at the age of 12? I think its a little to late for them to change,this new generation is not hunting so why would they take there kids.And even if they wanted to hunt its to hard to find a place to hunt so the sport is dead in the water,at least they can still find places to fish!

No, they lost money. Had they kept things the same, I’d be out closer to $1000 that they could spend stupidly. And I know for a fact im not the only one that bought a lifetime that year. It adds up quick.

shouldn't be any age for hunting and left up to the parents with supervision till there a certain age ..

Never heard of a NY lemonade stand shutdown happening yet though which perplexes me. Maybe that's part of Cuomo's start up NY program.

Well a real problem is there is a shortage of instructors and classes to get these young people licensed, Lets work on real problems instead of perceived problems. do a hunting class search in your district. I could not find a class in my area 10901 within 200 miles with an opening till april (thats 4 months) this is for next years license . The other problem is the instructors cant find venues to accept them to allow them to have the training course.

Had been a certified Archery instructor since the state made having a certificate mandatory. It was fun, and psyched me up for the season, so I got as much out of it as I put into it. Last year I was suppose to re-cert and It felt like I was applying for a pistol permit again, WTF, I told them I was done.

Not sure if you're aware, but the revenue from hunting licenses stays in a conservation fund to improve habitat, purchase land, and do things conservation related. It's not like it goes to the general fund.
Does it pay for the buildings?
Depends on the building I would presume. The purpose of the Conservation Fund is to support "the care, management, protection and enlargement of the fish, game and shell fish resources of the state and for the promotion of public fishing and shooting." So, a pump house building for a trout hatchery could be paid for out of the Conservation Fund. A welcome center, which could be a state park, at the Thruway wouldn't be covered.
