New York Democrats could pick up 3 congressional seats under new maps​

New York’s 27-member congressional delegation currently has 19 Democrats and eight Republicans. That delegation is due to decrease to 26 members after the state’s population grew less rapidly than other states’.

ALBANY, N.Y. — New York legislators introduced a redistricting plan that could allow the size of the state’s Democratic delegation in Congress to grow from 19 to as many as 22 members.

The maps are expected to be approved in the coming week. Democrats, who have supermajorities in both houses of the Legislature, are poised to control the outcome of the mapmaking process in New York for the first time in generations.

With a mid-term election less than a year away, states are scrambling to finish up the redistricting process. But while you are most likely to hear about gerrymandering from the mainstream media in reference to Republicans, the truth is that the most egregious examples are coming from Democrat-run states.
You’ve probably seen the spaghetti-on-a-wall map drawn in Illinois which nuked several GOP-held seats. Oregon, Maryland, and New Mexico have also pushed the envelope, squeezing every last Democrat seat possible into their redistricting plans. In states with “independent commissions” run by academics, Democrats have stacked the deck as well, with California’s blue-bolstering map being an example.

Now, we can add New York to the list. The state has released a 22-4 D to R map that eliminates four Republicans even as it lost a congressional seat due to the census.

Jerry Nadler’s district 10, shown up close in the second picture, is maybe the worst gerrymander in the country, though, there are some others vying for the title. It’s specifically meant to dilute the vote of Orthodox Jews, many of which vote Republican. Getting outside of New York City, things aren’t much better, with disjointed, hacked-up districts meant to compact Democrats into deep blue bastions.

That's not true according to the map I saw. They're going to chop Syracuse out of 24 and make it go from Niagara Falls all the way up to Watertown but skirt Rochester to the south. It'll be a red district for sure. But 22 is gaining that part of Syracuse, as well as all those nutjobs in Tomkins county. Claudia Tenney won't have a chance.

It was a name coined by journalist after Elbridge Gerry, pronounced Gary, a Founding Father, a signer of OUR Declaration Of Independence, changed his District and it ended up looking like a salamander.

No one should be surprised by this. NY's tax paying population will continue to decline and the state will lose seats in Washington. They will continue to carve out and make additional districts for democrat representatives to keep and gain seats in Washington. These districts are based on population. California did this through the use of illegal aliens boosting the population in areas to split existing democrat seats. Same crap going on here. Probably one of the reasons planes land in the middle of the night.

You must, seriously, admire the way the Liberal Progressive Democrats wield power. When they are given even a modicum of control, they run for the end zone. Their party is due to get creamed in the upcoming midterm. BUT...they find a way to use state level redistricting to increase their number of House seats. Amazing....machiavellian and insidous...but impressive nonetheless.

The Republicans have shown themselves to be impotent and unable to use power. When the GOP controlled the House, Senate, and Presidency in 2017 and 2018, they did NOTHING (except fight amongst themselves).

Well I believe its pretty clear now that the establishment Democrats and Republicans are two heads of the same snake. Jeff Sessions was the first to reveal this to those of us who don't treat political parties like our favorite sport teams. Trumps take down was a bipartisan effort yet we see many clinging to their party brand backing other establishment members. A political revolution is what is needed now and its underway within the Republican party with Trump backing new blood from hard working families.
