New York man arrested for stolen gun in Southeast

He needs to be prosecuted for the stolen property. But any additional penalty because it was "a gun" is complete BS.
What's so hard to understand about that ?
If you replace the word "gun" with "knife" it should not change the legal status of anything ever. Not guilt, not sentencing, nothing.

So much ignorance in such a short statement. First - the gun was stolen property. Second, the person called attention to themselves while in possession of stolen property and gave police justifiable cause to search the vehicle. Third - whether or not you agree with NYS laws, they are still on the books and possession of a pistol by an unlicensed individual is still a felony. I'm a 2A advocate, but understand that regardless of my convictions, violating the law could have severe repercussions, and with few exceptions, the law is the same for everyone. So, what is BS about any of that? News flash, when there is no rule of law, it generally results in anarchy and violence - or have you not been watching the "peaceful protests" and all the destruction they are causing due to law enforcement not being allowed to perform their functions? Furthermore, your condescending attitude about 2A supporters is telling. So - besides being an arrogant troll, why are you commenting? Flame on? More like flaming idiot...

And maybe you haven't been around long enough for you to notice my support for 2A and whatnot, but that's ok. People with problems reveal themselves all the time. But I don't play internet tough guy by calling people names on the internet, so who's the flaming idiot? I could call you some names too, like pussy bitch, or little dick man... Ouch! Not that I need to explain myself, but maybe you missed the other thread whereas someone didn't like my apparent support for LE actions in the arrest of the two idiots in a V&T stop for possession!? You need to keep up, and my post was directed or as a continuation of that point!
Anyways...
So... It's illegal to possess say 100lbs of marijuana as it's entirely too much for the intent of personal use and intent is to distribute or sell... But I guess that should be ok too, right? Because you know, so many feel that marijuana should be legalized!
My point entirely is that there is a law restricting the possession of said Firearm. The person in possession knowingly breaking the law is entirely and personally responsible for their act/actions. That's it...
My post is not in any way shape or form to debate the Constitutionality of the legality of the law! There is a succinct difference between the two points. Because the person(s) may be in disagreement with the law does not constitute an exemption from it, nor does it provide a basis for invalidation of it. Let's say, as an example then, with all the BS going on today, with the so called protests and such, I guess throwing bricks at LE is just a form of expression too (1A)!? And should be ok!?
And maybe if you're not cognizant of that, then the ignorance is not mine, thank you.
