NY may be a poor choice for vets but FUAC and company made sure it seems to be a good choice for relocating MS-13 animals though.
51st out of 50 states?
Wat?
Or DC, but it specifically says "50 states."I believe the Puerto Rico is included in these types of stats due to how many of their people serve.

"To help the troops plan their years after service, Wallethub compared the 50 states across 27 key indicators of retirement-friendliness toward veterans. "

That doesn’t make sense at all. If he wasn’t a NY resident (you don’t have to be a resident of the state you are stationed in, then you don’t have to state income taxes there. There’s more to that story, 100%.
If his "home of record" was in NY, he was liable for NY income tax. (ask me how I know)

I believe it depends upon your legal residence. Also, NYS does not tax military retirement nor NYS retirement.Doesn't matter where the $ is. IF your military home of record is NY, they will come for taxes. Check his DD-214 for home of record.
Tell me how to switch that, as when I move to TX I'm not giving NY another dime unless they pry it from my cold dead hands.
According to the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance. "Pension payments received by retired military personnel or their beneficiaries are totally exempt from New York State, New York City, and Yonkers income taxes."I think the key here is that the person in question retired while not a NYS resident, but then came here and started a second career. I just caught that. So at that point, they were a NYS resident and all earnings became taxable here. Although it still sounds weird because I'm fairly certain NY does not tax military pensions. Maybe only military pensions earned while a NY state resident?
Nope. The last 2 paragraphs are from the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance. NYCERS pension payments are exempt from New York State, New York City, and Yonkers income taxes.Isn't the quotes above for military pensions? I don't think NYCERS is included.
