NY has lost house seats after each of the last four or five censuses. Their solution to loss of tax revenue caused by the people that actually pay taxes fleeing the state has always been to raise taxes.

I still have a house in NY, and the taxes are about equal to the mortgage payment. Thats just property. There are so many unreasonable taxes and fees on everything.

What amount of fighting with anyone is going to fix that? Rhetorical question - I definitely know the answer.

My property taxes are projected to rise 25% next year. School and property taxes have risen 4-10% since COVID. I’m about ready to leave this city. I’m on a 5 year plan but I don’t know what that plan is. A lot will depend on if my wife gets a job she’s interviewing for this week and when I’m done with my masters degree. If she’s gets the new job and I get a job after my masters degree our income will rise about $70,000/year. I’ll pay off my house in a few years and I want to move more rural with around 30-40 acres.
