Andrew Cuomo forced the Indian Point nuclear plants to close. What is going to happen to mass transit fares with replacement power for trains and subways more than tripling in cost? Let them drive Teslas?

Indian Point provided nearly one-quarter of New York City’s power.

Cuomo was already setting New York on an ill-advised path of becoming 70% reliant on “renewable” energy like wind and solar by 2030 and was
still basking in the media’s COVID-era adoration, with Cuomo seen as a man with White House ambitions.

His wandering hands and all-around creepiness that led to 11 claims of sexual harassment and a swift resignation ahead of an expected impeachment were still to come when he damned NY to lose one of its largest suppliers of clean power.

To compete nationally in today’s Democratic Party, FUAC was a full-fledged disciple of the green cult and proved it by killing all of the cheap power normally serving NYC mass transit, hospitals, schools, public buildings, hospitals, and one fourth of its business and residents. After he killed all those poor souls trapped in nursing homes during covid, he then killed over one thousand NY jobs that will not come back after closing down Indian Point.

The ONLY solution to the liberal "complete electrification" goal is nuclear power.

Frankly, I'm in support of nuclear power. Tech has come a long way since public opinion soured on the matter. We have MUCH safer reactor designs nowadays. What we call "nuclear waste" is now a viable source of fuel for modern reactors, and using it this way would reduce the storage time of the eventual actual waste from centuries to a couple of decades.

Solar and wind and waves simply cannot satisfy our consumption rates. And they're not nearly as harmless as they want you to believe.

Andrew Cuomo was not incompetent. He was effective.

He purposely did these things and more to destroy this state, reap the profits, and enjoy the power.

His only screw up was failing to foresee how his rivals were going to push him out for his exposure in the WuFlu scam, by means of a retarded "he said-she said" sexual harassment claim. If he had watched his flank better, he would probably have finished his term and ran again (and again).

IMO his political aspirations for the Oval Office is what doomed his rising star. Like Icarus, he flew too close to the power source, and got burned, his wings clipped, and put in his place.

FUAC was a very long term Dem enforcer and trusted henchman of the Clintons and their once powerful Dem faction, fully on board with whatever agenda enriched him and ground the faces of the serfs in NY into the dirt as much as possible.

His ouster was directly related to the long and ongoing power struggle in the Demrat "party" between the Clinton faction and the Obamanation upstart, which usurped many of her ambitions and forced her to play second fiddle and catch up to the Bath House Barry wing of the party ever since.

After 3 mile island, chernobyl and fukushima it's quite clear to me that we will never overcome the human factor in design, construction or maintenance. The human factor scares the shit out of me because we will never make something idiot proof. I remember watching a 60 minutes segment on a nuclear power plant construction decades ago. They interviewed a whistleblower who talked about how the crews deliberately sabotaged equipment right after it was installed. The reason? Overtime pay. As the guy said when the incredulous interviewer asked him why the workers did that - "more work for you, more work for the next guy." As long as that mentality exists in the construction industry I would never trust another nuclear plant in this country ever.

Coal plants actually release *more* radiation into the environment than nuclear plants, including the disasters.

So, unless you think the rate of nuclear disasters is going to drastically increase, then they still are the best way to go until someone manages to make fusion practical.

I prefer natural gas plants to coal. With fracking we get so much natural gas that in some places they are simply burning it. A number of coal plants have been re-configured to natural gas and with cheap sourcing due to fracking I expect that to continue.

I still don't like the worst case scenario risk. A natural gas plant blows up and it effects the surrounding area for a while. But it can be rebuilt. A nuclear plant blows up and we've got a much bigger problem.
