They're focusing on the wrong problem. According to their own research ( Mass Shooting Factsheet | Rockefeller Institute of Government) 1,694 people have died in 'mass shootings' since 1966.

According to this site ( Chicago Crime, Murder & Mayhem | Criminal Infographics | HeyJackass! ) almost 10% of that number (155 people) have been shot and killed in Chicago SO FAR THIS YEAR.

It might be time to shift the research to focus on the 'why' instead of the 'how'.
