Picked this up on here in the classifieds earlier this week (.243 heavy barrel) and it showed up yesterday ahead of schedule. I had plans of hydrodipping but decided I wanted to do it myself. A YouTube vid or two and I was done.

Came scopeless so I popped on my new Vortex 6-18 and done. I may do something similar to the .308 I also picked up on here.

Love the rifle and the paint job. Let me know how you like it, and the scope. I almost bought that one myself. Are those all a flat camo line from Krylon? I'm guessing the paint job is not your first rodeo. Is that their sunshade too?

Yup, cans are right in the picture. Local ACE hardware store had all 3 colors. Actually, this is the first time I've done this, and I'm not "artistic", so you get an idea how easy it is. Guess I should've practiced on something first but just jumped right in. Vortex sun shade on. I hope to get some trigger time on this soon and will let you know on the scope.

Yeah, I saw the one was a camo line, so I assumed the other two were. What'd you pick it up for - hunting, plinking, or collecting because the price was nice?

That ain't a real Ford. It's a Rustang. That was an attempt to not leave money on the table by going after the ugly fat chick market. GM did the same thing with the Trans Am. When Burt Reynolds drove one it proved Sally Fields must have a penis.

Thanks. Hope to get out soon. Weather hasn't helped. Maybe it'll be my little Father's Day weekend gift to myself.

The stars finally aligned and I was able to get puppy out over the weekend. Dialed in the vortex scope in less than 10 rounds and was poking holes in 1 1/4" groups at 150yds. in no time. I was actually surprised with the trigger. No creep, crisp, and not too heavy. My buddy and I had a friendly contest blowing debris at each other with our muzzle brakes.
While we were at it, we did some experimentation with a piece of bulletproof material I had left over from work. It was screwed to 3/4" particleboard just as it would be if it were I stalled in a bank teller line wall assembly. We used to use 1/4" plate steel but this is much lighter.
We tested .22, .243, 6.5 Creedmore, .223, and .257 Roberts from about 150yds. All penetrated but we found a good deal of lead between the materials when we unscrewed them. I had planned on more pistol calibers, which it was designed for, but after it stopped 3 rounds from my Ruger. 44 mag, it was redundant to try others. Stopped the .44 cold with only a slight belly in the material. Very impressive.

nice rifle OP! question, what did you paint it with? in the past, I have painted some with high temp engine block paint but cleaning solutions like Powder Blast eats right through it. Is there any particular paint that stands up to cleaning solutions?

Not sure what you mean with your edited pic?
Ace hardware had RustOleum's Camo line of spray paint in 3 colors. I topped it with a satin clearcoat (not heavy) to seal it in. Couldn't find any matte clear. Starting to look at some of my others with that "thoughtful eye".
