Never happened with the amaxes to me. still can happen as still have a few K's left of those 600 values packs.
But according to everyone reloading the tmk was done right from the get go and hornady fixed that with the ELD.
Is it possible? you bet, but probably so rare that will never have that kind of impact. These brands sponsor world champions
and they shoot the same bullets as everyone else and they would not want that kind of publicity on them.
I think there is also a risk a otm can be off by weight, meplat or some other defect but how often do you see those?
I trust Sierra bullets 100%. Hornady match are also in the same league.
I like bergers too but lately I do not see the point in spending more.

It happens more often than you care to believe. There is an ongoing problem with Hornady 75 BTHP which they had a special on. Some never make it to the target. Berger had a similar problem some years ago. Sierra is most trustworthy, I agree. That's why I only shoot Sierras. They have best quality control, but I can show you Sierra bullet without a core. Found it in a box of 500, after another one I loaded didn't make it to the target. I Also have a circumsized Sierra bullet as well as other calibers that were in .224 boxes. You shoot enough of them, you will see everything.

I am not trying to talk anyone out of reloading 77 TMK's. It supposed to be a better bullet for hunting. I am just sharing my perspective.

Hornady ELD's are designed for great long range flight and from what I have read they are being used for hunting. I have not hunted with them but they do fly right nice! I've also had excellent results with virtually every Sierra bullet I have reloaded, 65 gr. SBT's were, are, consistently accurate and I wouldn't hesitate in using them for a deer hunt.

There is 2 different ELD bullets. One is a ELD MATCH the other is a ELD-X.
ELD-X is a match accurate bullet made for hunting.

This. I have taken two bucks and two coyotes with ELD-X in 6.5 CM. The one bullet recovered had like 87% weight retention and expanded nicely. The others left nice holes in and out. I would not expect that performance from the match ammo.
