My daughter works at the Jr high school right down the street from where this happened. Newburgh schools are a shit show. They can't have a resource officer in the school because it makes the students "uncomfortable". The 3 high schools share 1 resource officer. Security can't touch the kids. One of the principals she worked for last year is now at one of the high schools. He said they need cops or the NG in the schools. They have completely lost control.
The system has failed these kids. They have zero chance of getting out of there.
Shame on the community “ leaders” and “parents”.

I reminded my coworkers to be out of the sketchy parts of Newburgh before 2:00pm and school lets out and they let the animals out of the zoo.

At one time, Newburgh used to be "new" 
A Long History of Service, 1866 to 2013 (147 years)
In 1800, Newburgh was the second village in New York State to be incorporated. Since the American Revolution a "Committee of Safety", within the village of Newburgh, held the responsibility and duties of what was then called the local administration. The streets of the village of Newburgh were laid out with the village being run by elected trustees. Charles Clinton was the first president of the newly incorporated village which then had a population of 2300 people. On May 25, 1836, the following act was established: "The Board of Trustees of the Village of Newburgh shall have the right to appoint a suitable number of Watchmen as may be required for the safety of the village."
