I moved to NC, principally out of economic necessity. Other contributing factors? Absolutely! We all know them, and I don’t feel the need to repeat them again here.

I'm calling all those people who tell those who live in places like NY , CA, MA to just move to a free state everytime new gun laws are passed.

Keep your eye on the surrounding states near California. Oh yea moving away is just a temporary solution, places like Washington are examples of how less expensive states and more gun friendly states are just waiting to become the new California or New Yorks.

I do recall though, others saying that "they" are moving out of NYS... Nothing more, nothing less... That's not the same thing.
2.) What is your strategy to win anything in 100% Democrat controlled NYS? ... Write strongly worded letters to your state representatives? ... Maybe a rally in Albany? ... Voting? ... Gun owners and conservatives are moving out of NYS in droves... At the same time the Illegal invaders are moving in... There is no longer a fight to fight at this point in NYS... IMHO

On another gun forum that I frequent. A national based one.
Some members there from the free states say just move. As many of us know, It's not always easy to do that for various reasons.
Another thing that gets on my nerves is how some people in free states think that we deserve what we get because of our voting habits... Like we all vote for gun grabbing liberal Democrats. I have never once voted for a liberal Democrat and here I am with Cuomo's NY UNSAFE Act around my neck and paying high taxes to support the FSA.
And this was what my original statement was about. Nothing against those who got out, good for you all, and I hope one say to (mainly for retirement reasons because I honestly love NY and the geographic location I'm at)
It was more saying to those who say just move to a "free state" while many free stated are on the verge of falling (gun rights wise and soon taxes tbh) and its because not just pro gun or pro 2A people are moving to those states
In approximately ten years, I will sell nearly everything I own in New York State. I will pack up and move. Not sure exactly where, but my wife and I will be gone very soon after I retire.
I will move to State that is more Constitution friendly; not just the 2A, all of it. These places do still exist.
I am not moving because of the 2A or the lack of her in NY.
I am leaving because NY sucks balls. In nearly every fashion. Crime, liberals, taxes... the list goes on and on.
I am not leaving just because of our gun laws. As a matter of fact, that is closer to the bottom than the top of my list.
Single issues, no, I am far to advanced for my life to revolve around one issue.
We, the tax payers, have allowed this State to be taken over by the Left. Too many times, the right minded individuals have stayed home on election day. They have ignored the signs of destruction. For many years all of these signs have been ignored.
Again, not just gun issues.
Union voters have added to the downfall of NY. They have voted for years for the left in order to show their true greed. Their "One dog, one bone" mentality.
Our educators and our institutions of learning. So many times, the signs of change were there and too often, parents ignored the signs. They went with the flow.
These are just a few examples. Fault lays with almost everyone in the state. We are reaping what we have sowed all these years.

Yep I’m moving too in about a decade. Why should I stay here and pay a certain amount in property taxes for one year here when that same amount for one year here will pay property taxes for 10 years in another state?
I make much more money than my friends and family in other states yet they have more to show for what they make than I do. It isn’t only about guns. I have what they have gun-wise minus a pistol grip and a few less rounds in a magazine.
Guns are the least most important reason to move. It’s all about economics for me. If taxes and real estate were cheaper here I would stay here with these gun laws because in the grand scheme of things as far as guns go, carrying a concealed weapon is the only thing I have a real need for.

My mom is in West Virginia, she has just under 125 acres of land with a house, barn and etc., her property taxes are under $7oo per year. I pay almost that amount on my 10 acres of country property.

In my county, taxes average about 10,000 dollars a year for a single family home. My parents in Florida pay about 900 for the year. If I stayed here, I wouldn’t be able to retire unless I got a part time job for 7 years until social security kicked in and the Mrs will still have to work full time until her social security kicked in.
By leaving, she doesn’t have to work and we can live off my pension alone without social security. Once we both get social security, that’ll just be gravy.

We pay $411 in land taxes on 3.5 acres and a nice 3 bedroom ranch at our place in Tennessee. I was down there last week and and I'm amazed how the savings increase down there. Gas was $2.29 for unleaded. Food costs were less too. No annual registration or inspection for utility trailers. The weather on the Cumberland Plateau was comfortable, though there was one day when it was 90, so I didn't do any outside work that day, otherwise it was in the low to mid 80's. Didn't get to do any shooting because I was busy, but I could hear shots from the neighbors. I'm moving down there permanently next month!
Good news out of VA. Gun control has been staved off for now.

The legislature reversed that and shoved it back in the AG and Governor face by making it lawful to carry for non-residents who are permitted to carry in their own state without need for any permit or whatnot.
Anyways... I love NY, but I can't stand what has happened to it. I will move when I retire in a few years. Roots are deep here, but I'm willing to cut free. Sure nowhere is perfect, there is no utopia! But there certainly are still places that are governed by the people, and for it's people. 2A isn't the only reason, but it factors in. I moved out of NY first and foremost for economic reasons. Due to decades of mismanagement by our governments, it has become an economic toilet compared to much of the rest of the country. In another month, I will have been here 1 year. And in that time I have earned over 6X what I made in my last year in NY state. The economy here is and has been booming while NY’s has been dying year after year as businesses fled. I believe that when the updated census figures come out the true extent of the exodus from NY will be apparent,- and the numbers will be staggering.
Sadly, it was my lifetime home, and there is a mountain of things that I love about it.
But the state is fucked, and it will never turn around. And I will never return to live there again, even in retirement.
