Hi my name is Al Benros, owner of Nicys Firearms Instruction, located in Peekskill NY.

We specialize in civilian firearms training, pistol, rifle, shotgun, firearms safety, cartridge reloading and conduct our training at Blue Mountain Sportsman Center in Cortlandt Manor.

No store front yet, maybe in the near future, specially due to our reloading class, a lot of equipment to move around. We currently use the classroom and range at Blue Mountain.

If you spent a lot of time in Peekskill and have a few minutes next Saturday, come and check us out at Police Range# 1 at Blue Mountain, we're having our monthly Fun Shoot.

Please come in and shoot as our guest (free), bring a friend. You can shoot from 10 to 12:30 or 1 to 3:30, it's a lot of fun. Watch some of our videos on the Facebook page or website so you can have an idea.

If you're able to attend, please read the requirements, restrictions and ammo count on our website. Example; first time to the event requires a safety check 30 minutes before, no magum rounds due to the steel and no Serpa holsters, etc.

Now can you get Blue Mtn to open hours for people that have jobs?? Close at 3:30 which really means 1pm if you want to have any time..pffffft! Went once and never again I've spoken to Robbie about this and he says he's trying but the area isn't happy with it.

I know BM can get a bit frustrating with their hours but we're just tenants in there, not County employees and have no control over their schedule.

If you want to shoot pistol from mid-late afternoon to evenings, week days or weekends, there are several options, with good rates in Westchester, Orange and Dutchess Counties.

Let me know if you need the names and locations of these ranges.

I had the opportunity to attend the NICYS concealed carry skill course with Al at Blue Mountain this past weekend. I found the course to be quite useful. Al provided a lot of dummy rounds and insisted that for the first half of the course we mix those in with all of our magazines. I'd never had to deal with that number of "failures" during a course...especially while dealing with "threats" and reloading on-the-fly. It was definitely a drill that I can't usually use at my range (for fear of losing all of my inert rounds), so it was worth doing.

The best parts of the course include Al's recommendations for shooting from cover/concealment, getting a chance to engage a target at point blank distance (which I'm not sure I'll ever really do...but you never know), and when we got to walk and shoot at steel targets at the end of the day.

If NICYS plans to hold sessions where we can stand on the line and fire at multiple targets (at the same or different distances) or do more shooting on the move, I'm in (schedule permitting).

We are planning another concealed carry class Saturday November 12th, the last one for the season, since BM should be closing early December. This one should be a bit different with different drills.

Also, we're planning something similar to what you described early next year. Several steel targets at different distances and challenging drills. All designed to take the student outside his or her comfort zone but in a very safe environment.

We're in the process of moving, the event is now scheduled for Saturday, November 19th.

I apologize for any inconvenience, unfortunately October 29/30th were the only days we could do this.

I hope you can make it in November, I promise we'll make it up to you w/ some challenging stages, you'll enjoy it.

Thank you for the suggestions but I'm Member of PCFG and I'm there 3x a week. Also when I feel for a change I frequent Wooster in Danbury and when it gets negative coldness I go inside to Shooters in New Milford.
