Nikon scope warranty

I sent in my Nikon Monarch 8-32x50 BDC scope in Feb because it wouldn't hold a zero. I paid 600 bucks for the thing about 6 years ago. Today I get a phone call saying they could not repair it nor do they make that scope any longer. They said the value of the scope was around 950 bucks MSRP and they would exchange it for my choice of scopes up to that dollar amount. So the lady gave me a run down of what I could chose from and I picked MONARCH 5 5-25x50ED SF Nikoplex Custom XR Turret from Nikon it should be sent out shortly. Will be nice to be able to put a decent scope on my Savage model 12 instead of the 3-9x40 that is on there now.

I sent them in a set of binoculars a couple of years ago. I told them I dropped them on concrete from about 3 feet above the ground. They replaced them without charge. That is one reason I love my Nikon products. Even if I screw up they get replaced without charge.

Ehh I am not so sure of that. The Monarch that was sent in was on an M1A which is known to be a scope killer anyway.

One of my other monarchs sits on my 30-06 bench gun and has a 1000 rounds on in the past three years without any loss of zero or variation in adjustments. I don't have any scoped rifles that are safe queens and the vast majority of them have Nikons on them. This is the first Nikon I have ever had an issue with.

Recoil is not the problem. The problem is erector tube mechanism. It will not take constant adjustments when one moves from yard-line to yard-line plus staying on top of wind changes. 1000 rds is 1/3 of a season for me. Most scopes can last a season, give or take, before problems start showing up. NRA and CMP now allow optics in Highpower competition. Finding reliable scopes turned out to be a problem. Those that are cost from $1900 to $2500.

Makes me REALLY glad I bought the ProStaff 5 for my new .308 rifle. It has been a great scope, that I absolutely have no problems with and couldn't be happier with my choice. Your post just validates my decision. Thanks for sharing your experience. Most times Folks get on a board and want to bash a product. It is really beneficial to see the other side of the manufacturers. Especially when you had 2 favorable instances. I guess it is safe to say you are a Nikon for a reason.

You are going to love the MONARCH 5. I have 2 and the glass is incredible. I used one on my .300 Win. last season on 2 extended deer hunts and was successful on both hunts. The 3-15 magnification made early morning and late evening viewing a pleasure, I was even able to watch deer well after shooting light had disappeared. Let us know what you think and hopefully a range reort as well.

Good to know they have great service. All I have is Nikons and I am glad they stand behind their product years later.
