No help from NRA on latest anti gun laws in NY

The NRA was good at filling up my mailbox with their junk mail.

I wish that they put the effort in protecting our 2a rights in NYS that they do trying to get my money.
That money stopped a couple of years ago. I should of done it sooner.

There are a lot of reasons to leave NYS. It's not only the 2A issue.
The thousands of dollars that I just handed to the town clerk (property tax) is one of them.
Having no effective representation is another big one.

Call it fleeing all you want... I call it seeing the writing on the wall and actually doing something about it.
This state couldn't be fixed in my lifetime if I was 1 years old... NYC controls the politics of this state.
Always has, always will... (There is no changing that -- change my mind.)

New York State separating from New York City --- Never going to happen.
New York City politicians losing their grip on the entire state --- Never going to happen.

This "running away" non sense always makes me laugh.
It's not fucking running away, It's being smart and "looking" for a better quality of life elsewhere.
Like I said before, There are a lot of reasons to leave NYS. It's not only the 2A issue.

Even if Federal gun control laws end up effecting me in another (red) state at some point in the future.
I (and my kids) would still be better off for many other reasons.

One last thought...
Considering the thousands of NYS citizens that have already moved out of this state with others just waiting for their time to come... And also considering the fact that those thousands are primarily made up of, Republicans, Conservatives and Gun Owners.
With that in mind, tell me, just how is NYS is going to be turned around at this point.
When it couldn't be done when those voters were still here in NYS.

I really hate to say it but you are right! My folks moved here years ago when this really was the EMPIRE state, jobs where plentiful and paid good, taxes where ok and the schools good, now just look at us. I'm a truck driver and can work anywhere and never even change employers my wife's a nurse and she too can work anywhere so other than a big house and garage full of shit there's not much keeping us here! I just hate to admit defeat.

The only thing that can help us here in NY is a pro-freedom Supreme Court. And thanks in large part to the NRA, we have a court that is taking a NY gun case, a president that is appointing pro-2A justices, and a senate that is confirming them.

You're kidding yourself. The legislature will simply rewrite anything that gets struck down by the courts so that it does the same thing as the old law did.

The only thing Democrats, specifically the NYC crowd, cares about is themselves and who participates in their election process. NRA does not so they don't care. Elected Democrats explicitly say that is the problem, not so much guns themselves. This is also the reason they passed that abortion law and why there is no fracking in the southern tier.

I get what you are sayin' but is it really defeat when one never had a chance in hell to begin with?
For an example, NYS has been dealing with the unconstitutional pistol permitting system since 1911.

The only thing keeping me here is the wife doesn't want to move away from her friends and family.
And she also has an attachment to our house. We have both put a lot of work into it in the last 29 years.
It's her home, I get that... But we still have to go... This is no way to live.
I came to NYS in 1989, it was tolerable then... Not so much at this point.

It's the fact that the New York City Progressive Democrats have a stranglehold on this state.
Every one of the 8 gun control bills in the works now are the work of New York City politicians
Not to mention that if the NYS GOP could get some control back what good would that do.
The NYS Republicans have already shown us gun owners what they are all about.

A big problem I have with NYS is the fact that I don't have a voice.
I have no effective representation about what is important to me.
The illegal invaders get the red carpet treatment. And I, a law abiding, tax paying, NYS citizen gets the shaft.

The amount of taxes that I pay for what my house is accessed at is absolutely ridiculous.

There's a lot more wrong with NYS than the 2A issue.
Myself, I would probably put the 2A issue at number 3 or 4 on a list of 5.
