since assault rifles are an actual thing and term but assault weapons is made up by the media.
Well it looks like we got the whole assault weapons are not a real thing message across, but instead of calling say an AR-15 what it really is, they have now coined "assault style" aka styled after the assault rifle version.
The sad part is tech. the m16 is "styled" after the semi automatic civilian marketed AR-15 (stoner had originally designed and marketed the new rifle to the civilian market 2 years (I believe) prior to the military deciding they wanted a full auto version for themselves)
