No pistol sales at cabelas until June 1st

My girlfriends dad went to cabelas today to pickup some ammo and saw that cabelas had all their pistols locked up and none in the display case with a sign saying no pistol sales until June 1st. He asked the guy at the counter what’s up and he said it was because NY has some new law coming. Anybody else hear this?

I would sue them .. 2A .. they are a FED Govt agency ( nics checks ) per say

and its a Civil Rights violation under NY .. ( they have a NY license too to sell them too )

They view gun sales as a "loss leader".
The margin on guns does not compare to the margin on a fishing lure, shirt or a pair of pants.
You can't blame them. They are marketing/retail people that must be politically correct in all degrees.
As a marketer, they only sell guns to bring "sportsmen" into the stores.

Agree! I worked at Cabela's and saw the writing on the wall when Bass Pro took over. They took the PC position of Cabelas and turned it up to the full throttle. I didn't like what I saw so I quit.

The margin on used guns right now is quite good. They sell the used guns for almost double what they paid for them.

Maybe, but, do you know what the margin is on a $40.00 piece of clothing that they purchase for a few dollars? Way more than double. A retail manager's life is all about the Percentages.

Those guns bring a lot of people in the store though. Since they got stupid I rarely go in there. No traffic no margins.
