noob going to range for the first time

They can get crowded on the weekends sometimes, especially in the last few months. Noticed alot of new shooters go there.
last time i was there on a sunday it was PACKED, had to wait for a good hour and a half to get a lane open. Ive also noticed new shooters/gun owners dont seem to mind spending extra $ on ammo too

Makes sense that they don't mind spending extra. They probably don't know they are paying extra and just think that's what it costs.

It is a decent range for indoor. I’ve been there a few times and it’s never been very busy. They never came tapping on my shoulder that my time was up or charged me for that extra 30m I spent. You can check google for typical busy times and go off hours. People there are pleasant. It is essentially shutdown proof because it’s a listed as a law enforcement range and thus considered essential -

Ok guys.. I did it...
Brought the Glock and my AR to RISE, in rockland.. very pleasant experience.. everyone there was helpful.. one of the RSOs actually help oil my AR before shooting..
Shot 150rnds of 9mm and about 100rnds of 556..
I know for next time indoors, ear plugs under the muffs for the AR.. a lot louder than I expected

SO how cool was that! What did we learn, it's loud, has allot of energy when shot but only makes tiny holes. its deceiving with the tiny holes they make in paper , but eather bullet will destroy any living item they may land in whether intentionally put there or accidentally . Be careful.
Now you also may be upset how dirty your guns are. Next thing see if you have a fellow shooting buddy and learn how to clean your guns. I compete with my Glocks and rarely clean them after shooting ,but with the Rifle I just don't know when the next time I will shoot it and always clean it after an outing .
I am not sure of the home you live in. But I am a big fan of securing firearms when not in use. I am not saying you should not have a firearm to defend your home, I am saying what ever is not being used to protect you should be secured, and any thing your using to protect should be secured so only you can use it. there is so much safe ,quick access items available no gun should be left unprotected .
