If NK nuked us, you really think even China would be dumb enough to back them? I don't. The liability of first strike would be on NK, we wouldn't even have to nuke them back. Our conventional bombs used without discretion could completely destroy all of NK without risk of nuclear fallout to other countries. And you gotta figure the rest of the world would be watching China in such an event. How many countries would converge on China if they stepped up? They may funnel arms to Lil Dumbshit, but I don't think they'd get personally involved. Of course this is also dependent on what kinda of POTUS we have. During the time of Odumbo, warnings would be made, lines would be drawn and redrawn again. With a POTUS that would take the leashes of the Dogs, the mountains of NK would become the plains of SK.

I don't worry about their ICBM, I worry about fed ex freight as a delivery method.

A nuke going off in the port of NY at the customs inspection office will do as much damage as an ICBM, and it's something that every nut case in the world count do, if only they has the nuke.

I think that depends...
If it was that simple, slbm's and attack subs (with nuke reactors) wouldn't be much of a threat if we knew where they were via satellite or other tracking sensors.

They warheads are well shielded. When the container comes off the boat it's dropped on a trailer then put in temp storage. Then at some point a truck shows up to get it. When it's loaded on that truck it rolls thru these tall metal posts (this happens all across the west at scale stops along the interstate) and they scan for radiation. If all is good it gets to leave the ports. If it doesn't pass they open it up. I used to get scanned at the port of entry (east bound) on I40 on the Arizona/New Mexico border all the time. It kinda creeps you out like your getting xrayed or something.

I could agree with this if they were making suitcase nukes, they are not. North Korea is trying to use rockets and missiles as their delivery system and their program is state sponsored.

Here in the US our only real nuclear threat would be from the lone wolf or cell that wants to skip a border with a heavy backpack nuke. That would be the only real threat here.

Imagine the chaos is they just announced that one had been stolen. Even without a detonation or even one actually being stolen, if N Korea just said one was missing......

Even the most primitive nuke can be concealed in a fishing vessel. By the time the get to the customs officers they are already to detonate.

The only way to get it farther out is to know it's coming or catch it in a foreign port.

What are they going to do to catch it when it's still 20 miles off the coast ? Anything closer is too late.
