Not "assault rifles" if its for LEO's

To be clear, not bashing LEO's here but more the reporting source. Curious as to why when the "scary rifle" is in the hands of a civilian, its reported as an "assault rifle" but these ones are just considered rifles?

The rifles aren't .223 that's why. If they had purchased these in .223, they'd be assault rifles.

Just what is a single shot, semi automatic rifle? Sounds like I might need one. I've always had to settle for one or the other.

As far as I remember, if it's semi-automatic, has a detachable magazine, and has one 'feature', then it's an assault weapon designed to kill as many people as possible. Could be the single shot, semi-automatic loophole...

Commisioners apparently possess the same astounding firearm knowledge as a FUDD behind the counter at the typical LGS.

This very same issue in the private sector would have been dealt with, personal trained, the guns distributed, and probably have a rime of rust from disuse by now. Done and done!
They need to throw more of our money at it and figure out a few secrets that the public is not equipped to handle and everything will be just fine and _ndy.

Both community members and the police union criticized then-Commissioner Daniel Derenda for getting the rifles. Derenda, however, said he was uncomfortable arming officers with fully automatic rifles like AR-15s.
