This is stupid. So I agree with this statement from the article.
People also spend more time outdoors when the weather is warm, which makes encounters with others — and the potential for lethal clashes — more likely.
This however does not mean global warming is the cause of gun deaths. I would say the cause of gun deaths is people running into people and being outside more often when the weather is nice by this statement. We all know the summer has been more deadly than the winter for years and years for this reason.

My statistics professor gave us an example of basic statistics "don't" that's very close to this: Statistics show that an increase in the sale of hot chocolate is directly related to the DECREASE in violent crimes.

Statistics 101: correlation does NOT equal causation. When the weather's nice, people are outside of the house more. More interaction between people means more disagreements, more disagreements lead to more crime, etc. That's EXACTLY what this article is showing.

In every nation crime is related to poverty, drugs, gang activity, laws and enforcement.
if you factor those variables the correlation with weather falls apart.
what is also important is the society's sentiment on important issues. Citizens might not question whatever reasons politicians give even and why fear mongering and disinformation is central to unethical political and social engineering strategies.
