After I got three calls in under a week I asked to speak to the callers supervisor and then told the supervisor if they called me again I was going to end my membership and file a complaint. That was back in September and I haven't had a call since.
I still get at least one begging letter a month though.

I am a member, can't remember my last call. Maybe before election day? Maybe my phone is broken.
I did the same and the call have seemed to stop, for now. I am pelted with letters and emails on what seems like a daily basis.

Awhile ago I was thinking about joining a gun club/range. I have my own range but thought it might be fun to meet and shoot with other people sometimes.
I went to the one I was most interested in. It has an indoor pistol range and 100 yard rifle outside, kinda lame but hey.
First thing I noticed walking in was NRA posters and literature all over.
I asked about a membership and they said its $50 a year, and..........you must join the NRA. If you choose to quit the NRA, your club membership will be over.

A lot of clubs get affordable insurance through the NRA. One of the conditions of getting cheap insurance is 100% club membership.
Screw them. The NRA sucks enough money out of the gullible saps in NY, no need to be stiff-arming us too with "you leave us, you get no range" horseshit.
You know, if they were worth their weight in dogshit, they wouldn't need all these "incentives." But alas, they'd have guaranteed customers even if they pissed in their faces.

I started getting calls from them a few years ago. A lot.
I called the Member Services line and asked them to stop calling, and to only mail me stuff that is directly relevant to my membership.
Haven't received a phone call since. Outside of my copy of American Rifleman, I only get mail from them a couple of times a year.

You have to be an NRA member to participate in many shooting activities or shooting sports, NRA also provides insurance to shooting ranges. That's why I maintain my membership. Beyond that I don't give them one cent. What really makes my blood boil is the attitude of NRA members from other states. I travel a lot and we have plenty of time to talk. They don't want NRA to waste its resources on states like NY, CA, ..etc and they are vocal about it. They want NRA to focus on getting more in states that already have plenty. At best they show sympathy only on the surface and suggest moving to a red state. We are somehow at fault for what was done to us. Deep down I don't care about their battles just because of that attitude. People are selfish.

for whatever reason I never thought and put these 2 things together.....there has been no mention of NRA trying to work on NY they know its a lost cause I think too.
state too blue with all control in downstate. I was just in the same boat of maybe joining a club but again NRA membership a must.... I now am sorta reconsidering that.....im like other post as I have a range at my place I am using now but only me gets a little boring sometings plus I wanted to try out skeet.....Hmm I can do that here too with a thrower and i can also tape nra letters to the clays and BAMMM...yeah...no real work going in that Im aware of in NY. Hmmm screw that.

The NRA generally doesn't get involved at the state level. That's what the NRA State Associations do. In New York, the affiliate is NYSRPA.
Have a bitch with what the NRA is doing in New York? Direct your complaints to Tom King. He's also on the NRA Board of Directors.

I'm tired of hearing excuses for the NRA. Assuming they only do National which they do not since they've gotten involved at state levels before, why don't they put a fire in the NYSRPA if they truly cared?

Tom King is a worthless, butt kisser, and is sucking NYSRPA dry of all its member money. He puts his cronies on the BOD, insults and undermines SCOPE behind their backs, and rakes in close to $100,000 a year. In fact, his anti-SCOPE behavior is so bad, he should be working for Every Town for Gun Banning.

I support NRA because they can make a big difference on the national scene that will help us in NY. Like a Pro 2A Supreme Court and concealed carry reciprocity. Even if NRA can't change NY liberal politics, I totally support them because NRA is effective. On the other hand, NYSRPA is Tom King's personal slush fund.
