NRA Members: I received my copy of American Rifleman today, and a 2019 ballot was enclosed. That douchebag FUDD Tom King is up for reelection to the NRA Board of Directors. We should send him a message.

Ballots must be received no later than April 7.

In NY, US we have to pay taxes whether we like the services we get or not. So we better vote.
If I don't like the NRA I send my money to others that do their jobs.

If I remember correctly Tom King received the second to last opening on the last ballet and not by that many votes? So some research is needed to see where your vote would do the most good! Vote for someone above his position no help! Vote for someone below, how do you know the support that person is getting? I think the only sure thing is for anyone who voted for King in the past is not to vote for him again! Which could very well happen as NYSRPA has lost a lot of members because people have not been happy with King!

On another note though this SCOTUS case could help him by bring in new members (not renewed!)

Some of us who work in the firearms industry don't really have a choice in the matter if we want to maintain our livelihoods. Some of us are required to maintain NRA membership in order to maintain range membership, insurance, or instructor certifications. As much as I disagree with some of the shit that the NRA is doing (or not doing) they are a necessary evil for some of us.

You can encourage me to give up my job, just as I can encourage you to quit being a dick about it. I suspect it'll be an exercise in futility for the both of us.

Adam Kraut is on the ballot again too. I'll be voting for him, maybe one or two others if I deem them acceptable.

I'm of the opinion that the influence of the NRA is still too big to throw it away and hope that GOA or some other organization can step up in time. Better to steer the NRA toward a better course from within - at least at this point.

ETA: On the upside, one of my younger classmates at MCC had a brand new GOA shirt on and a "We the People" tattoo on his arm. Hopefully GOA is changing the power equation.

Of course if ones job depends on it, you might want to support it. It is only logical.
All that I am saying is that they are not the only choice nor the best one specially for NY.

I was a member in the past yet I remain active, just not with the NRA or Scope anymore.

We have been abusedand exploited for a long time non just in this region but even in these forums. We have been around for a long time. The NRA is not perfect. No organization is. But what MANY people need to remember is that the NRA isn’t just a lobbying organization. They do training and education. They do range development. Conservation. Business development. Competition. And on. And on. And on.

NRA certification is the de facto standard of training in many states for firearms ownership, and even for law-enforcement training. And that’s especially ironic in states that are actively working to destroy the NRA!

They may not always help us politically. But firearms ownership isn’t just political. It’s a culture. It’s a mindset. It’s a lifestyle. And like it or not, the NRA has woven itself into the very fabric of our society.

We should be coming together as a community, not being more divisive. The threat to the Second Amendment from the left is grave enough that there is plenty of room for NRA, GOA, SAF, and most of the others to peacefully coexist. And they should.

And so should we. Everyone should do their own homework and support whatever organizations with which they are best aligned.

I apologize if I came off as harsh. Some of us are tired of getting shit on, having our threads get shit on, or having our organizations shit on, from other gun people no less, every time they are mentioned.

I do not know what, if anything GOA has done good or bad. I am not now, nor have I ever been a member.

I do believe, on an individual basis, Oath keepers do a lot on a one to one basis. I know many in the LEO community that are Oath keepers. They swore Oaths and the uphold them at any cost. I know many that will never arrest if it mean breaking this Oath,.

Many here, and elsewhere, do not believe this, I know it to be a fact.

Spend your money on ammo teaching new people how to shoot. Usually doesn't take long for the inexperienced to become pro-gun.

Post-safe, it quickly became apparent large organizations aren't interested in the preservation of NY liberty.

The only path forward is the grassroots movement. Create new shooters (and new voters).

To make it tougher to change the organization. There were lessons learned from the '77 revolt in Cincinnati. On the upside, it would take a very significant investment in money, time and manpower for the left to infiltrate and destroy the NRA through disingenuous membership and voting.

Vote for a limited number of candidates. If you cast 27 votes, you've given equal footing to all 27 of them. The majority of them will make the board without your vote. If you cast votes for three candidates, you've given those three a one vote advantage over the 24 others you voted for in the fist case. Make sense?
