You can bump fire with just your finger if you know how to do it right with practice. We'll be seeing more people perfecting it and posting online.

Now I am hearing from the Dems and lib talking heads on the boob tube saying "thank you on bump stocks and now to make a difference we got to go after the out of control civilian semi autos, magazines and the glut of civilian handguns." We ain't a going down a slippery slope, we are heading to a freaking cliff.....

This "tool" used the excuse that he was "shooting 3 Gun competition" and that's why he "needed" all these rifles, magazines, and ammo. The gun shop sold him whatever he wanted. So say a company right now start putting a bump stock on an ar-15 starting today ban it or not. It's a factory feature now? Look just because it makes a semi auto fire faster doesn't mean it should be illegal. This would change nothing. What if I practiced a lot and had trigger work done is that now illegal. How about the cowboy who shoots really fast should his hands be illegal because he's super human? How far do we take it.

I agree it's hard for some one to stick up for it at this point and they are just covering their ass, but that's the problem isn't it. That's all they do is cover their ass to get reelected.

I don't want to give another inch. But, like it or not, automatic firearms are already heavily restricted or outright banned (in areas). I live among the Leftist Liberal Progressives here downstate. They cannot tell the difference between full auto and a semi-auto that is bump-fired (with a specific stock or from a belt loop). Therefore, trying to defend "bump fire stocks" after they were specifically used in a horrific act of violence is difficult and creates very poor optics.

I've tried explaining the differences between automatic firearms and semiauto firearms that are bump fired to some Liberals. They are simply emotional and all reply: If it fires as fast as automatic it IS functionally automatic. They don't give a darn about the mechanical aspect. They don't care that bump-firing is inherently inaccurate.

That said, I'd prefer to get something in a compromise for allowing these stocks to be banned. I'd like to see a hands-off agreement on magazine-fed rifles. I'd like legislation normalizing carry permits across state lines. Heck, I'd settle for normalization of pistol licensing between counties in New York (as long as my county, Westchester, is not used as the model).

Like it or not, we are being forced to play politics with our rights. It is a bad position. I have lines that I will not cross with regards to regulations. I will not, however, go to the mattresses to defend bump-fire stocks.

BTW - I hate this whole damn legislative "need" being forced upon us. My opening stand will always be "no further restrictions." But, compromises may need to be struck.

I think he was thinking of the pistol braces. If it was a politician I would have seyed that it was just proof that he wrote the statement while high of cocaine (the high qual stuff from the CIA) while getting s*cked off by a off-shore imported hooker.
