I get a kick out of folks blaming the NRA for NY's BS. NY and NY alone is responsible. Yea the city pretty much dictates state wide politics because too many to the north cant be bothered to get off their fat lazy asses to vote once a year. Then throw in all the fudds and like minded asshats and there you go..No amount of effort from the NRA or any other org will change that.

And I am no cheerleader for the NRA and I wouldn't give a dime to the NYSRPA until the King is gone and they do an about face.

I've never understood the apologists saying "How can you say the NRA is to blame!?" Nobody is. They didn't make the law. We are blaming them for promising a service, taking money to ensure that service, and then getting no service.

While some of these things you listed are nice; as far as I am concerned, the NRA has turned a very blind eye to NY gun owners. I have turned my back on them as well.

Political donations are awesome. I think it is great that they do donate. But to act as if they are doing something special is like saying a garbage man did his job because he picked up the garbage on trash night.

My issue is very simple in regards to the NRA, they were almost non-existent when it came to the SAFE Act. They should have been leading the fight. Yeah, yeah, I know, They are a National organization. But with the passage of our Act, look at how many other States have followed suit. More and more will try. If it was easy to pass in NY, what is stopping all these others from doing the same? Conn, California, Oregon and Washington to name a few.

They should have been there more for us when we needed them the most.

Maybe they were busy sending out hats and other awesome prizes

I actually have no problem with the NRA, except for the amount of money they WASTE, let's look at how this works
if you join, for $25, plus a duffle bag, how much does this "gift cost" 10 bucks
so the duffle bag costs $10, then you can choose one or both magazines, there goes another $10 (my wife is the publisher of a magazine, I KNOW what it costs to produce a decent magazine. It's actually much, much higher than 10 bucks)
so now $20 out of $25 is wasted, now they have all of $5 bucks to do all the other legal stuff with? then they spend hundreds of thousands of dollars begging for more money.
In the end, all the NRA does is compromise and we lose just a little bit more of our rights.......until the NRA stops wasting money, I'll stick the GOA, they don't compromise, and they don't waste my money.

Fight with all their power and money instead of just giving a measly 50 to 80 thousand dollars to the NYSRPA. I can't remember the exact figure but it was paltry. They could have nipped the first AWB in the bud when we had the Supreme Court. They could have fought may issue.

Lots of things could have been done.

Did you know that they were adamantly against Alan Gura when he wanted to go to SCOTUS for Heller? Thank God for the 2A Foundation and Mr. Gura otherwise we wouldn't even have that.

Taking unconstitutional laws to SCOTUS is how any group can fix NY.

If we can have somebody like bader retire than we get another one and then it's a 6-3 and then the odds truly increase for something like national reciprocity or federal right to carry or something.

My question is if the federal government issued and assault weapon ban in the Clinton era, why can't we do the opposite. Make a law making it illegal to regulate firearms and magazines in that sort of fashion. This would be going on the offensive. Make the antis prove that's unconditional. BINGO! The NRA has a vested interest (Mo Money) in regressive gun laws. They once agreed to the AWB if you remember and agreed not to fight it as long as it was temporary. (had a sunset clause)
Now the Courts say - Well the AWB was in effect and no one objected or filed suit so it must be the will of the people.

This is why I say Stop Capitulating to the Leftist Bastards. (or as they call themselves, Progressives.)

Now the DemocRATS in the Senate are going to fight National Reciprocity. Now they will become the "party of NO".
