NY Airsoft marking OUTSIDE NY CITY

Can someone give me a reference to the ACTUAL STATUTE on the required marking of airsoft guns in NY OUTSIDE OF NY CITY?

By outside New York City, I would assume you meant the rest of New York State or the United States - it is the same in either case. 15 CFR 272.3 which is a Federal regulation.

If by outside New York City you meant the entire universe, markings laws will vary by country, planet, galaxy and dimension.

Yes, I meant NY State outside NYC. There are a lot of articles claiming various marking requirements, but none actually reference a statute. And a friend just bought an airsoft in NY and it only has an orange muzzle, so I'm assuming that the article writers are assuming. . . Amazingly there are many articles on removing the orange muzzle marking -- which I guess is natural selection, because people that stupid will have short lives.

There is also Section 872 of the NY General Business Law.

Neither the Federal reg or the NYS law apply to possession of an airsoft, only sale, distribution or manufacture.

Airsoft is outlawed in one Australian state and heavily regulated as if they were real firearms in the others.
if we just need to leave the orange sticker on the muzzle, we should be thankfull.

You don't need to go to Australia, because Airsoft guns are illegal firearms in New Jersey without a permit (and if they fire full auto they are illegal machineguns). New Jersey Law and Airsoft
