In spite of his pure fiduciary responsibility and obligation to maintain NYS pension funds, DiNapoli decided to politically weaponize the pensions of state workers, police, and fireman for leverage with threats against credit card sales of firearms and ammunition.

The large retailers aren't going to deny customers a means to pay, and it would really be up to them to come up with a system that magically informs the CC company what you are buying. There already are prohibited purchases that the merchant would not be reimbursed or would lose their ability to process any credit card transaction if they run afoul of the rules. Merchants that ignore rules are often caught when a customer disputes a charge so most will comply. Such items already are online porn, medical marijuana, lottery tickets, and casino chips. The banks already know who most exclusive specialty retailers are anyway so you could kiss off most online ammo purchases to NYS, or online purchase of firearm parts or service directly from a manufacturer.

Many firearms related retail sources have non descript company names (ACME Machine) with non descript items (if any) on the receipt.

My cartridge brass always gets listed as "machine parts".
