Legal regardless. And quite fun to shoot. The most entertaining gun I own.......... when it's working. I did replace the extractor, just forgot to reinstall the firing pin along with it
It's a real bitch to strip and reassemble the M1 bolt so I have been neglecting the task. But I really ought to so I can see if replacing the extractor fixed the extraction issues I was having. A Garand that double feeds every few rounds is not particularly entertaining.

Yeah getting working properly a weapon with its type of history really shouldn't become a wall hanger
