My opinion. It’s a magazine holder. But my opinion doesn’t matter. They can say that the ribbing is in there to provide a better grip so it’s a grip.

Whoever made it, they clearly made it with the intention of utilizing the piece not just to hold the secondary magazine. It follows the angular geometry just right and has ribbed texture for just that purpose of a secondary handgrip. It is very cool though, I'd buy one. Looks like something easy you could punch out of a 3d printer too.

Besides, it would require untraining and retraining my brain and muscle memory for reloads. And unless done extensively, I would bet the house, be slower than I can already reload! So just no...

Something likes this isn’t made to conceal. What it could be good for is on a home defense, nightstand pistol. 2 solid points of contact is better than one and having an extra magazine right at your finger tips is better than wearing a magazine pouch on your pajamas at night.

I searched and came up empty on the example you found, but found 2 others. One "may" go by the name of Dualma11; but couldn't find it for sale anywhere. It also isn't really an pistol accessory, per se. The 2nd on is a crude picatinny mag holder, with absolutely no clue as to who makes it, name, etc.. Pics attached. (Just making this more convoluted)

ATF undoubtedly would have some issues with the latter.
iirc the people that made the flex brace for glock also made something along this lines like this, called it a magazine holder and again iirc the ATF said yup that is what it is and good to go
