Was this even a thing? If my employer or potential employer demanded my login information I would tell them to go fuck.

My interpretation of this law is that the employer is still free to troll social media and can do what it wants with publicly displayed information, it just cannot demand private access. I have absolutely not even interviewed people before because I didn't llike what they had on their public social media.

Checking a candidates social media may lead to discrimination, or so says my employer. I don't have time for that shit anyway. I can fire anyone for almost any reason in their first 90 days.

An employer doesn't need your UN or PW to access your private accounts because they are PRIVATE and none of their business. They can easily look up and look at your PUBLIC social media accounts where you willingly identify yourself and see what you post or other PUBLIC media where you are identified. If you post on any media platform available to the publics view or any platform where you are also identified, or your behavior in public is recorded and posted to the publics view, that's all fair game in my book as there is no violation of your privacy. Then, if your PUBLIC postings show that your life is all about your political views or a distinct lifestyle or doing stupid things to the Nth degree and shoved in everyone's face, that may make you a bad fit with that companies culture and make you a bad fit for the job you wish to be hired for compared to the others who qualify. Self censorship goes a long way on the web as well as in life in general (be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to anger). If you advertise it, expect everyone to have access to it and be able to act upon it whether overtly or covertly. If you keep it behind a password protected PERSONAL email, or some anonymous platform or the like, that's personal and none of anyone else's business, especially employers that you don't want to share it with (but beware that it may be hacked and is typically government monitored).
