You are correct he doesn’t seem to have the freedom beaten out of him like the rest of us.

Yes from other posts in the past both the Mini 14 and the Ares SCR both come from the factory with 5 rd mags (with a SKU# that states that) That was why I mentioned that in my earlier post. Even though I'm in Saratoga County I bought the SCR last year, and bought 2 more 5 rd mags (thinking it came with a 10 rd mag) for hunting coyotes had I known it came with a 5 I would have only bought 1 more 5 rd'er.

The magazine thing is helpful for the licensing division. An alternative is purchasing a 5 round magazine and have the transferring FFL note it down as the capacity on the green NYPD form. If no 5 round magazine exists, you can modify a >5 round magazine and sign a notarized affidavit that states it was blocked down to 5 rounds.
Fingers crossed, my stay shouldn't be more than 2 years. Looking at homes in PA, NC, SC, and TN where they hand you a firearm when you go to get your license changed.

Maybe I should just get a bolt action 50cal with every scary attachment possible, because why not, unless there is now some random banned ammo law. Even though the only range that can probably handle it is in NJ within driving distance.

let me know if they allow a 50cal with all the bell's and whistlesI thought all bolt actions were good to go? I saw a gun shop on long island that sells flamethrowers. It's not a rifle/shotgun, its not a pistol, is there a flamethrower license I need to acquire or this that good to go?

You could get a flintlock musket without a rifle/shotgun permit. Some guy got the NYPD to back down over it years ago.

NYC has 5 broughs: bronx, brooklyn, manhattan, queens & staten island. They go by a different set of gun rules besides the NYS gun Law.
Westchester, long island, Upstate is not part of "NYC's 5 broughs". Just because you saw something in a LI gun shop, it does not mean you can posses it in NYC.
LGS sell certain items to individuals with credentials or maybe it display only. Just because you see it, doesn't mean you can buy it.
Yes, there is a ammo storage limit in NYC (per NYC fire code).
