Well, certainly an off duty officer *can* commit menacing, just like anyone else. Point a gun at someone and it's absolutely menacing 100% of the time. You'd better hope you have sufficient justification.

Middle eastern Muslim being charged with a hate crime against Jews is not rare. Not common but not rare .But attacks against Jews in New York don’t tend to be the traditional stereotype. More often it’s Black on Jewish or Jewish on Black.
But there are plenty of arrests on Muslims planning or committing terrorist attacks on Synagogues .

Awhile ago wasn't someone's defense "if the glove don't fit". She wasn't arrested at the scene, so basically they have to prove that the firearm on her permit was the one at the scene. For all we know that looks like a grip to a rubber gun.

My point was we never hear about it. I’m not surprised one bit it happens but every time there is something about a hate crime with Jews it’s linked to people like us even though we don’t care and I like Jews because they don’t really like the government much.

Can you provide a citation on this? I've looked high and low for a menacing conviction in New York State that stemmed from displaying a holstered sidearm.

I’m with you and I don’t believe it. I was at a bar restaurant last week in Albany and a cop out of uniform with his badge displayed was there longer than I was for dinner. His gun was visible the entire time and there is no way he was working. He was acting like a tough guy shirt tucked in and interacting with friends with his gun and badge hanging out. No one even looked except me because I knew what he was doing.
Thats because it doesn't happen ever.
