I bought a rifle at Dicks yesterday. When I got home I noticed that they did not fill in the line NICS CHECK#. Is this going to be a problem?

The only thing I get is a receipt. I never saw anything about a NICS#.

He has to registered his rifle with NYPD. It is a NYC rule.
(NYC resid. are requires to posses a rifle/ shotgun permit in order to own either. )
I would try to go back to the store with your receipt & paperwork to get the NICS check#. They should have it on file.

NYC can get bent. No way I would register a rifle or shotgun. I heard it $100 to register it? At what point do we start to arrest governors, mayors, and legislatures for violation of the Constitution and when are the police going to do their job to uphold our rights and arrest these traitors? What's next, states are going to start charging people to practice certain religions? How about having to pay for a permit for speech? Maybe it's a menu like system, certain things you can say for free but other things, namely saying anything negative about a political representative, costs $100 for a special permit. Give me a break. Sorry for the rant, but I'm tired of this kind of garbage.
@mgunner it costs $140 for the application processing and $88.25 for the finger printing fee (one time only). The license is good for three years and there is a renewal fee. Yes it's bullshit but we have no other choice.

I'm shocked Dick's sold it to you as a NYC resident! No one wants to sell us guns even if you have the permits. Where did you buy it?

I went to DICKS in New Jersey and they wouldn't sell me rifle ammo. It's legal to buy, but that is their store policy. No ammo sales to Out of State buyers.

I think we all know that we shouldn’t have to register anything but some knock NYC people for long guns that they register as if they agree with with it or have a choice while they themselves do the same with pistols. That’s the point.

honestly it was a half hearted attempt to make a statement on the ridiculous registration scheme of NY, a topic thats been beat to death. After hitting post, I immediately regretted it, knowing it would devolve into an argument/discussion that would derail the OPs post.

I was just reading the regulations and realized I have registered two rifles with NYC, one recently and one about 10 years ago, and I have never received a validated registration receipt back from them. I am required to produce this registration if requested by NYPD, otherwise it is assumed I have the weapons illegally. Great!

I'm not getting the rifle permit from NYC upon retirement this month. I'm just going to tell them I don't have any rifles in the state of NY.

If you're retiring and it's a possible, look to move upstate or out of state where the people and local government won't harass you just because you want to continue to enjoy your hobby. And you're social security money will go further upstate or out of state too.
