NYPD hunting endorsement card. Now hunting TAGs are part of the process..

Well so much for a fairly easy process. Wanted to get my Authorization Card from NYC while registering my gun and was told I needed in addition to my hunters license my hunter tags issued when I got my Hunters License. Why do I feel like this was made up on the fly? I honestly do not recall reading anything of the kind. Even when I went to pick up my license and asked about the authorization card no one mentioned this to me? This is obviously not a hard thing to bring them but seriously was this just created as a requirement?

I think OP is a "NYC" resident. NYC has different rules/ this is only a NYC rule.
A separate "hunting authorization card" is required if a NYC handgun license holder wants to take his/her handgun outside of NYC while "hunting" upstate during rifle season.

I think OP wants a hunting authorization card so he can carry his handgun during rifle season ("hunting season".)

But imo, I would have wanted until Sept for the new hunting lic 2018/2019 to come out before applying for the HAC.

Correct..The NYPD hunting authorization card will help me achieve pennsylvania CCW. With my blended NYPD restricted licence/NYPD hunting authorization card i can drive down to one of the sheriff's office down in PA and apply for a CCW.

You need a home state carry license to get a PA non resident.

A little family ride down to Bellefonte on Friday. I was able to apply for my Pennsylvania license to carry firearms, in and out the door in 15 minutes flat.

Not even going to bother with my PA Non-resident. PA honors the Texas license, and the Texas license only requires I can hit the board side of a barn basically in a shooting test. I plan on leaving for Texas asap (maybe before my carry insurance disappears since NYS is banning Carry Guard / USCCA type services.)

Congrats on the non-resident PA license.
But I'm a little confused by your statement above ^^. Do you have a "resident I.D. " for PA ?
if not, it has to go on your NYC license (via FFL).
You may want to research that some more...

You can buy a handgun in PA but you can't take possession of it there. They have to ship it to your home state FFL. That's federal law.

Do you have a NYC "Premises" license or a restricted "business carry"? Don't say squat to NYPD about going out of state with your handguns, nypd would love to suspend/revoke your license (If you only have a premises permit). Sadly there is case law in their favor.

Get the PA license if you can. They are constantly changing hi harry permits are honored .
