My cousin was partners at one time with the other Sgt who was shot. Word is, a recruit not even out of the academy yet made the fatal shots. I have pictures I would love to share here but can't for obvious reasons.

It is always surreal for me when shootings like this occur. Unfortunately his family (the deceased officer's) is now living a real nightmare.

Chances are, on Thursday night he was worrying about or dealing with usual life matters. Most cops are aware of the stats on police killings. Their spouses maybe more keenly so. I cannot imagine the despair in that household this weekend.

Condolences to his family, and I suspect I know how the other injured officer feels.
