NYS 12/24 bill signing violates freedoms with mandates for social media companies to report to the AG

I gave both Bills a quick run through and unless I missed something, I don't see any definition of hate speech or dis-information defined by NYS. Social media companies with users in NYS, will be require to add to their Terms of Service warnings about Hate speech and Dis-information but its left it up to them to determine each one. A cop out. This is just another BS part of a law out of Albany that feels great to a certain group of voters for the 2026 governor election. Stating or defining what is hate speech and/or dis-information would be a clear 1st amendment violation and onto SCOTUS as it would be law passed by NYS and not a company policy. So really the social media companies could simply add the undefined terms in and do absolutely nothing.

Oh, I understand. “THEY” can USE it when convenient, apply it as deemed appropriate. That is part of my concern and frustration with almost all of the laws that slip and slide through the slimy NYS legislature process. Words designed to be a single edged tool for one side of the agenda. A system resourced and designed to silence a demographic by allowing a unbalanced system of election (No electoral college) and remove the voice of a segment of the population, is not an American system.

Web forums are technically social media. But how far does this bill expand into private owned and operated business? If any forum receives monies to keep up it's operations, it's actually a small business and the owner is required to pay taxes on the income. So once again, the wording of a law put into place by our oppressor will be at the discretion of who got their cereal pissed in that day.
This will be a one-sided law. For the past 16 years I have heard, read, and personally witnessed some people stating people like myself need to die. It's not hate speech because of the extreme groups it's coming from, the left and far left. But if a Right Wing minded soul was to say, I think our Governor has mental health issues, it will be considered hate speech. See how that’s going to work?
I'd bet this post just adds to my points on some stupid watch list.

We can define unlawful speech, such as threats of violence or direct incitement to riot or do violence. But, posting "hateful" speech is absolutely protected under the first amendment.

One has to only look back to the 2020 election where Hunter Biden’s laptop was misinformation only for the same group of people to admit under oath in a court of law that it wasn’t. What would happen if say we got flagged for that and punished would that punishment then go away? Yes this is a complete assault on our rights and the rights of private companies but why aren’t they complaining? Why aren’t they suing? One could say well it’s only been a week but they knew this was coming so they should have been up in arms prior to the bill signing.

Oh no, to be sure the average person wouldn’t even make it to court because they couldn’t afford it, and their trial date would be much speedier for sure. The elite (one thing truly bi-partisan) have a completely different set of rules. The trials “Made” important by MSM also deviate from what Lady Justice originally intended; equal justice and process for ALL. The Penny subway example is a good one. Penny was immediately the demon. Yet an almost identical incident in the same city got NO attention. The laptop is another great example. If it were yours or mine it would have been evaluated and info released within 72 hours.

The fact that one state, can attack one man, chose the judge, make the rules, on three trials within a 3 month period (regardless of that persons name) and financially benefit from it should chill the average Joe. The fact that we except it without any change of legislature by vote or law is more ominous. Ethics is a lost culture amongst the legislatures of all levels. We see violations by the bucket full with inside trading, using Tax funded travel for personal and family gain, and the rest. Yet the common folk bear the cost and if convenient the extent of law if applied to them. NYS is a prime example.

Legally not allowed but it’s still being mandated in my county to hand in a pistol permit application. It’s right on there and they will refuse to accept an incomplete application. Don’t put it on there it doesn’t get processed.
