I’m sure this will not go well. I know what’s happening now isn’t or hasn’t been going well but blanket tickets for using the thruway with ez pass is what will likely happen among other things.

Since highways are easier to keep plowed than city streets, it seems like the last roads to close should be highways. In my area, I usually don't have to shift to 4WD until I get into the city.

It is social Darwinism at work when current day commuters die in snowbanks.
Pushing buttons on the vehicles think pad simply should include a laughing face for stranded conditions.

I always advised that you should dress to walk a mile in current weather conditions, whatever they are, and to keep water food and a blanket in the trunk..

Hochul is going to pass a law against winter weather being allowed, EVER, to protect her scurilous worthless incompentent voter base.

I was in college during the Blizzard of '66 in Oswego, and have lived thru many subsequent years of winters.. Winter of 93-94, it snowed every day from Dec 26 to March 17.............no scum died, as the times were very different culturally, and people were smarter, much smarter than today's end times morons.

Several reasons, not the least of which is that we don't trust the state to decide when they are "too bad".

I drove to from Rome to Syracuse, and all around the state from Syracuse, , in all conditions for 35+ years. WTF is wrong with drivers today?

Road plowing and clearing, is light years ahead today, from where it was in the 60's and 70's.

I especially like the warm weather fashions and shoes, that many drivers wear in the winter!!!!

I've seen a lot of places where it's a packed lot for semis... and now they want to get rid of more truck parking...

There are not even close to enough truck stops to accommodate the truck traffic in any given corner of this state at any given point in time. Even with trucks hanging out in shippers, receivers, gas stations, empty lots and anywhere else they can conceivably find to get off major roadways, there are still significantly more trucks in NY at any given time than there are parking spaces to accommodate them. We saw how that went with the Thruway closing (the rest areas are truck parking with fuel, and the best route to more truck parking is frequently the Thruway as well). The trucks off on side roads were looking for places to go to hole up or just get out of the area, with the best route shut down.

Better to double down on snow removal on the major roads, and keep after it. Trucks aren’t getting off the big road in bad weather in preference of smaller unmaintained roads, without being forced.

Except in the 60's and 70's they would actually plow the roads during the storms. And KEEP plowing as long as the storm was active. Unless it was so bad that the plows couldn't keep up at all...which I've only seen once or twice in my 50 years on this earth...then it was "stay home!" everywhere, but essential personnel could get about with sleds.

But doing that costs money, and this State is so far over budget as it is due to failed Democrat policies. So they try to reduce the road maintenance so they have more money to put in their own pockets.

That's hilarious. This state won't listen to reason. Even if you give them hard proof the state will do what it wants and to hell with those it screws over.
