They think they can do whatever they want honestly and it aggravates me sometimes. They hunt all year long by my parents place and clean the small lakes of fish too. This is why they put limits on pan fish in numbers and in size now. The Amish have decimated the crappie populations in many small lakes in WNY and now they need to be 10”’s to keep. A 10” crappie is big. Many lakes now you have to catch an 8” sunny or bluegill to keep it. My problem is they don’t follow it anyway and the rules change all the time now so it’s hard for me to keep up with them.

I know a lot of Amish.
On their property they are having the same issues many Alaskan natives have had for decades.
They have over hunted and over fished their own lands, so now they are clearing out the state lands and WMU. Many of these families have 100+ acre farms, completely devoid f wildlife. The have no deer, no rabbits, no squirrel....... and their ponds are wastelands, they even killed all the frogs. They are very well known around here to "accidentally" cross the WMU boundary and hunt on private property.
Its becoming a REAL issue around here.

Another example of laws/regs made to punish the law-abiding while the scofflaws skip out on the consequences. When fishing is outlawed, only outlaws will have fish.

To sum up this diarrhea stain of a thread, everything is lawful unless/until a law/regulation specifies it/proscribes it as a violation, thereby no longer lawful. In other words, if there’s no law preventing it then it is lawful, not unlawful.

This really is about responsibility.
Around our house its called the "Pepsi" rule.
My wife was the HR manager for our local Sears/Kmart for many years.
The "rules" of the store were that you could have a bottle of water at your register, no food or coffee.......thats what breaks are for.
The managers were not sticklers about this rule as long as people were RESPONSIBLE.
A couple cashiers, slowly over time, would have a little snack, like a candy bar.
Eventually they had bags of chips, bags of candy, coffee and the despicable bottle of Pepsi. They would OFTEN be chugging Pepsi while customers waited to cash out. They would hold up their "just a sec" finger.
Sooooooo, the hardline rule was brought back......strictly.
These two cashiers, both early 20 somethings, ruined it for everyone.
Hence......the Pepsi rule.
If you allow people to govern themselves, some will take advantage.
This is why you have to catch 10 inch Crappie.
Which I will say, here in Chautauqua Lake is not a HUGE Crappie, its average.

As i said before, carry of long-guns was not prohibited (soon to be however), and because of this it would have been a good case in court.
Was just wondering if there was a challenge to it, like a case, or youtube "auditor" style video...

Maybe in Chautauqua lake that’s not huge but now that all the Amish are fishing there it’s only a matter of time before almost no keepers are caught. Around me you can’t find too many 10” crappie but in a few small ponds. I’m sure they are in Lake Erie and the Niagara river but they are so spread out I never see them but once or twice per year.

I agree 100%.
Years ago some Crappie just happened to "find" their way into our ponds.
This spring I caught a 14.5 inch Crappie.
Im going to believe that wasn't the biggest one, what are the odds?
Now we have Bluegill, Perch, Bullhead, SM Bass, and monster Crappie.
Im hoping to someday have a couple Muskelunge "find" their way into one of the ponds.

The whole point of barrel length restrictions is to prevent concealed carry of long guns.
They can only be open carried. (Soon to be banned however)
