Every time this topic comes up, I get fired up.PA is just around the corner
I live in Southern Chautauqua Co, about 4 miles South of Panama NY.
If you look on a map, that's the PA border!!!
I can almost throw a rock and hit PA.
The ONLY reason we live here is this is part of my family's land, which we have owned for 180 years....I'm not leaving.
We could absolutely buy a place in PA, but that state is on its way to being like NY.
We also have property in Alaska, but it's WAY off the grid and would be a tough life at this point.
Last Spring my wife and I went to West Texas and looked at a 120 acre "ranch".
It hasn't been a working ranch sinse the 1980s and needs work, but it's an option.
A friend of ours owns it and isn't in a hurry to sell. We are going to spend a month or so there next Summer to see if we like it.
