Legislation sponsored by state Sen. Samra G. Brouk, a freshman Democrat from Rochester, would tie New York’s health curriculum to standards written by a left-wing interest group that advocates “Sex Ed for Social Change” — and would make those lessons mandatory statewide.

Under that group’s current standards, public and charter schools would have to teach 5-year-olds about “gender identity” and instruct 8-year-olds on hormone blockers to prevent puberty in transgender-identifying preteens.

Stop putting your children through state funded brainwashing. I'm not opposed to anyone doing whatever they want, but impressing this upon impressionable kids is unacceptable and pushing views. These are not decisions to be made at this stage in life when everything is uncertain. At best this is something that should come much later in their lives when they make big decisions about their future.

I was speaking to my old boss the other day -- we still talk -- and he was telling me about how the public school wanted to talk to him about if his kid may be bisexual. His kid is 8 or 10 or something. Why is this even being brought up or the place of the school? It's not their domain to be pushing for anything.

This has gone too far. This isn't about helping people anymore -- it's about pushing a view. The over involvement implies pressure.

This is a perfect reason to pay close attention to everything these schools are teaching.

Pay attention and speak with your kids. Do not be afraid to go to the schools and get involved. Speak out and speak up for your kids and their education and the over reach of these school systems.

My son is currently in public school. My two step sons went through as well. I have been involved and an active participant since their first days of school.

I am dealing with the same thing now with my 6 year old. Not surprised his teacher has a Biden bumper sticker either. These kids are just going to fall into the BS or be more confused than anything.

That's basically it.

The left believes they have a stronghold on all things intellectual. They don't. It's those who aren't on the extreme left that refuse to put up a good fight, and continue to back down.

Stand up for what you believe in. Study. Better yourself and your children.

I'm not advocating being anti-intellectual either. In fact, the total opposite. Anti-intellectual is just a code word the extreme left uses when criticism is waged against their views.

This is actually an interesting topic. Every night I study for an hour, mostly philosophy. I do an hour of professional development, and an hour of philosophy. (Not always, but I try to do that each week night)

Thinking into this deeply, the core difference, for me, for why socialism is not desired over capitalism is because it takes away our agency. It takes away your choice to decide how your life plays out. If both produced the same results, which they do not, that is why I'd still pick capitalism over socialism.

That's not to say I'm not pro-limited amounts of social programs. I think they are unavoidable. I just don't want everything to be a social program. I want the bulk of my life to be determined by me and my actions. That gives me ownership of my life.

Anyway, just my thoughts. A little off topic, but an interesting discussion.

1) this is nothing but indoctrination.

2) "teachers" who even mention this are nothing but Maoist stooges and should be subjected to the same Farcebook and Twatter cancel culture as are conservatives.

3) teacher's unions NEVER should have been allowed to begin with and the cadre that runs them, and their teacher "clients", are Maoist "running dogs".

4) lastly, regardless of whether I insult anyone here or not, most, but not all, public school teachers are, and have always been, from the bottom of the "intelligence" barrel.

5) no one, repeat NO ONE, in the public school system has any right, responsibility or agency to interfere in the parent-child dynamic, unless there is gross child abuse occurring, and then their duty is to report it to police - NOT to their fellow Maoists in social services.

Not everyone can afford to "pay" for public schools AND private schools, and, with the overbearing tax burden on society, most families do not have the available parent to home school their kids since both have to work.

I used to believe in the idea of what public schools were for. Until I grew up and realized it was nothing like it is sold as.
And I don't agree with the "vouchers" idea. that is merely the .gov giving you back PART of the money they steal from you.

So wrong! The only reason you do this type of thing so young is to permanently engrain the message you want into a persons mind. This is just a well worn marketing tactic. I always refused to do this kind of crap when I was involved in advertising. It’s just wrong.
