Hochul's a big supporter of "the Green New Scam," and here we are.
A few miles from me, a farm field has been converted into a solar field. I live in the snowbelt, and we get a lot of snow here. And of course, being WNY, the skies here are, for the most part, overcast and gloomy. (This summer being the rare exception.)
And for the last 3 years, the Canadian wildfire smoke just hangs over the region, creating a thick haze in the atmosphere.
I'm certain the Green New Deal is a scam and a very shady deal.
And we're all paying for it.

So we complain about global warming so we are putting in solar panels. Let me ask you this if I measure the temperature above the farm field will it be cooler or warmer than the solar panels? It makes me sick how many new solar farms/fields are going up. Freaking useless. I don’t get why they are putting them in at all different angles now and they aren’t even facing south. It all seems odd to me.

I have wondered this as well. Solar is not exactly new tech. There are ideal azimuth and inclinations based on location and average yearly performance (true south and your latitude generally)
They put in a new field last winter near me. Compared to the field across the road its a completely different direction and inclination...by a lot.

Solar doesn't work on a industrial scale. Its far to expensive to install and maintain. Plus, they take up hundreds of acers to produce very little, and of course, they don't work at night, or during storms or covered in snow, AND they are easily damaged by hail ( in some locations )
However, on a smaller scale, like individual homes ( and RV's ) they work just fine. One draw back, which I never understood. Municipalities DO NOT want you to have a battery backup system? Besides, a battery bank will cost as much or more than the solar panels. There are many lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePo) batteries out there that do produce 300+ Amp-hours. Tie 20 or 30 in a battery bank and you have some serious battery power that can run everything in your home for a lot of hours. And LiFeFo can run down to completely DIScharged (zero volts ) and still be fully recharged. The drawback, you have to keep them warm. LifePo batteries will not charge up below 32ish º.
Lead acid on the other hand works great as well, but are just as expensive as LiFePo, and if one battery goes bad, you have to replace all of them....
we have been on solar for four years now, you definitely have to make some life style concessions. All your lights will have to be LED. and your kids will have to learn to turn shit off.
You can put solar on your roof, or it can be installed on a large post in the yard. If they are on a post, you get them to track the sun, but that uses solar energy to move the panels.

I will say climate change is occurring. This summer was warmer than I ever remember and dry. Spring was super wet and it’s been wonder than I remember for years. Also less snow.
Now that doesn’t mean because I drive my pick up truck that’s the cause. Climate has been changing since God created the earth.

Just shutoff their electric for a month and if they get a job and pay their bill then they can keep working and keep paying. If they live without electricity for a month they are likely not able to work and I don’t mind helping. I’ll bet over half get a job and start paying their bills.

Farmers are land leasing their fields to the solar power companies for yearly leases. The 'pitch' is to 'let your unused land generate income for you'. Someone I know was ready to jump on this for an unused 'back 40' of their property but the20 year lease and encroaching requirements presented by the solar energy developer was a bit much. They decided against it in the end, even though they could use the money.

Most are 20 or 25 year leases around me. Most are getting $2,000 per acre to do this. I know a guy who signed and removed his fruit trees. He had to rent a huge bull dozer and pay the fuel to remove them, he called said solar place and said it’s done. Three years later they put them in and started paying him. He lost revenue from the trees, paid taxes on the land and fronted the money for tree removal just to wait three years for any movement.
