Driving to another state won't help.

NY won't share the information necessary to conduct the "trusted traveler" background checks.

So, no NYers can get "trusted traveler" status.

Doesn't matter what airport you're in, you have to take the slow lane.

Testimony from the CBP guy said there was no warning from NYS that access to the NY information would be blocked. CBP found out the hard way when there system could not access NY data.

Kaliforna has a similar law, but they were smart enough to make arrangements with CBP to insure continued operation.

The headline is GROSSLY inaccurate.

New Yorkers can still apply for and receive TSA PreCheck, which is the primary trusted traveler program used to speed through airport security. New Yorkers are no longer eligible to apply for or renew their status in Global Entry, NEXUS, SENTRI, and FAST. These programs are designed to speed you through customs when crossing a border. People who already have status with one of the four programs can keep their status until it expires.
