Hassling kids must be a standing order. On eastern LI when I was a kid, they’d tie ropes across popular dirt bike/atv trails and then chase kids who were out riding down those same trails. Some folks got hurt and this got hushed up.
Had one chase me very aggressively (I was riding a street legal dual sport motorcycle on a town maintained dirt road), almost ran me over. Said I was off-roading illegally, and persisted in this even after I produced registration and insurance docs for the bike.
Needless to say, I’m not a fan of the green cops.
They killed them both to send a message. Plain and simple.PNUT should be here and those involved should be euthanized.
Yup. Is there a problem with that?
OK, I'm all ears...If anyone cares to look a bit deeper into this story , from what I’ve been able to gather so far , there seems to be a lot more to this story than meets the eye.
Handsome! And yeah go figure, her name is Karen..
I can only judge by the interactions I have had over the years both as an individual and as a business matter. I did business with the DEC training academy in CNY for a few years. Listening to the TOs talk about training new officers, it became very apparent why they were the way they were.Just Like anything else lumping them All together because of a couple bad actors is a false narrative. I’ve had plenty of interactions with DEC officers and Forest Rangers over the last 45+ years of hunting and for the most part they have been stand up guys. I personally know a couple of younger DEC officers and they are compassionate and dedicated conservationists .
One "news" report I heard was that Peanut bit one of the DEC officers that came to collect him. Peanut and Fred were euthanized to be tested for rabies.
Peanut had been a resident in Mark's home for years. Rabies in a squirrel is fairly quick. They would have known long before heil hochul's henchmen got there if Peanut was sick.
Racoon, however, can harbor and transmit rabies for up to a year before showing symptoms (so said DEC back when I was a wildlife rehabilitator, and is the justification for why Rehabbers cannot take in 'coons). So my first question would be "when was Fred adopted and how long has he been living in the home"?
My second question is "did the DEC officer have to get the rabies post-exposure vaccines"? In the rehab circles you end up getting those regardless of your pre-exposure vaccine status if you are bitten, while they wait for the test results. So, again, why did Peanut and Fred have to be put down right away? They could have waited a week to see if Peanut showed symptoms.
this was definitely done as a statement. Adopting wild animals is forbidden in heil hochul's kingdom, as it was under Monkeyface Partytits. Mark made the mistake of becoming famous for it and HAD to be slapped down.
So when will heil hochul be arrested for the bushy caterpillars she lets live on her forehead?
Clearly someone wanted to make an example of this guy. I would like to know who and why. "Just following orders" isn't going to work on this one. It was too disproportional to the offense.I was hoping a wildlife rehabber would chime in on this. While extremely heavy handed, the State was acting within the law. If this guy had decided to not do the social media thing no one would probably be the wiser and Fred and Peanut would still be alive.
I get that we can't just have anyone taking in wild animals. Wild animals are not pets and need a level of care that the average person just cannot provide. Having said that though, DEC looks like jack booted thugs in this incident and it is very bad optics. And with all the other more serious environmental crimes out there I as a tax payer would like to see them direct their energies to more important matters.
I don't know this guy personally, but I have a suspicion (and this is pure speculation) is that he was probable more than a bit of an ass and wanted to have the animals for social media clout and didn't want to actually deal with filling out paperwork and getting proper training, which is why it went down how it did.
As a rehabber you could, theoretically, get permits to keep "unreleasable" animals...those that cannot be successful no matter how much care they receive... but only for educational purposes.I don't know this guy personally, but I have a suspicion (and this is pure speculation) is that he was probable more than a bit of an ass and wanted to have the animals for social media clout and didn't want to actually deal with filling out paperwork and getting proper training, which is why it went down how it did.
And that's how those involved will rationalize/justify it."Just following orders"
