All other dumbass behavior aside, this: "Atkins, who has a valid permit for his .22 in Connecticut, does not have a legal right to bring that gun into New York." Is what irritates me the most.
States should NOT be permitted to infringe upon the Constitutional Rights of any American Citizen without just cause, presented before a Judge, and only after that Citizen has had a chance to defend themselves.

He has every right to bring the gun into NY.

While I have ZERO problem with so and so exercising their Constitutional rights by LEGALLY carrying a firearm from State to State for personal protection (screw the "only can transport for sporting or hunting purpose" limitations), this "genius" lost 110% of my support when he was stupid enough to fire his weapon into an above ground pool.
It's morons like this guy who ruin it for the rest of us who are smart enough to be hyper aware of where the projectile goes after it leaves the muzzle.
While it isn't any of MY business who people support and the reasons in which they do so, if some of you find it easy to back this geniuses play I REALLY have to question why.

I would bet that this man knew he could not bring his gun into NY legally, he chose to do it anyway.

And like NY, CT does not honor any other state pistol license! So when are you taking your NY legal pistol there?
The federal reciprocity has not been passed yet, And even if and when it does it is going to need to stand up to court challenges. And the ironic thing is Heller could be what knocks it down!

You're missing the whole point. People are saying you don't have that right because you'll be attacked by the state if you try it.
I'm using the 'hood example to point out that just because something is dangerous and a bad idea doesn't mean you don't have that right, or that we should just say "he got what he deserved" to everyone who falls victim.
spat the only victim here was the woman who got shot by this guys careless and reckless shooting of this pistol! That is what was investigated to begin with then they have to charge with the criminal possession! If this guy was a NY'er with a valid pistol license I would think he would be saying good bye to it!
And just so you know were I'm coming from, I am one of the instructors with a group that gives the Basic Safety course in my County. So maybe I look at this from a angle to keep people from getting jammed up!

He should absolutely get the reckless endangerment charge, or whatever similar charge they want to throw at him. He certainly earned that.
"Criminal Possession of a Weapon" shouldn't even *be* a charge in a country with a 2A. That is where my problem is.
You were arguing his right to bring the gun here in the 1st place. People were pointing out how he "should have known better" and that he probably knew he wasn't supposed to have it.
Then you asked me when I was going to take my pistol to CT, as if me being smart enough not to has anything to do with my right to do so. I pointed out that just like I will not do that because I fear being unjustly attacked by the state of CT, you won't walk around the hood flashing cash, not because you don't have every right to, but because you know you are likely to be criminally and unjustly attacked for it.
