Fucking awful, heard about this last night. What the fuck is this guy going through, jesus. He's in for a world of hurt now.

Anyone know how this gets handled law-wise? He's active duty but committed a crime not on base, or in theatre. Is he just gonna be handled by civy courts? I hope they throw him in a hole and set it on fire.

RIP to the Trooper, absolutely awful to hear. Too much of this going on.

The military will be last in line for discipline....The State has him and will deal with him. Most likely,after being sentenced by the State ,he will be dishonorably discharged from the service for ALOT of reasons.

Take my word for this . If off base and committing a crime/caught/ and put in jail.....unless you are 007 the military will let you sit until released and if not "on station" for the next duty day, at the minimum AWOL charges commence plus others when released by civilian authorities. The only thing the military cares about in an off base arrest is where you are. The civilian authorities have first dibs on prosecution.

AND...this is the best part...The military claims "no double jeopardy" meaning if charged with a crime off base, you can't be charged with the same crime on base so....they charge with awol,conduct unbecoming, etc.....

But this guy isn't returning to Base. UCMJ...uniform code of military justice
