This is outside the scope of the ruling. In a nutshell, there are states that reject people's application to carry just because they can.
Example: my brother is an active duty Staff Sergeant in the Army. He's led fire teams into combat in Afghanistan. Maryland denied him a CCP because he didn't prove a need to have it. This is the "may issue" scenario that was the basis for the lawsuit. If he re-applied today he would HAVE to be approved.
As far as I can tell from what I've read on the case, it doesn't address the method of carry, ie. open or concealed. It only struck down the "may issue" permitting system. (But not the overall permitting system itself)

The court challenges to those restricted places will be largely successful. Why? In part because it wasn’t considered sensitive for hundred years unlike schools or courthouses. Places like the NYC subway and many parks had exceptions for permit holders in their rules. Thomas in his opinion set a standard that the rule must meet. What they can do is give businesses the right to say “ no gun zone” and give it the force of law.

SCOTUS doesn't generally issue orders to states or governments. They issue orders to appellate courts when they think those courts made mistakes.
They order the appellate courts to fix their mistake. Because the appellate courts are the ones that report to them, not the states.
This is pretty universal and basic chain of command stuff.
If the CEO wants a new color widget, he doesn't go down to the production line and order the painter to start spraying. He orders the COO to pass the order down the line.

In fact, if you read the laws for Texas, they do restrict in plenty of places. Especially where a restaurant/bar gross alcohol sales are 51% or greater.

You still need to be a law-abiding citizen to get a pistol permit to legally own a handgun.
What SCOTUS decided on did not change anything to put the general population at risk, because law abiding citizens are NOT criminals.
Basically that PBS video is telling all of us that have pistol permits and guns for that matter, we are criminals.

I live in Westchester County and submitted my amendment to remove my Target restriction on Friday. The woman went through my documents and said they were all there but that they were waiting for word on how to handle this situation. I had done an amendment before to add a pistol and it took 2 weeks to get back but she said because this is a restriction change it could take up to six months. On my Full Carry attachment I just wrote that I have been a responsible Target permit holder for 2 years and want to be able to carry to other places without fear of losing my guns and referenced the supreme court case in allowing me this freedom. We will see how it goes, worst case I lose the $3 filing fee.

I can surely see your point, and I also agree this is going to effect those of us that were already unrestricted. For one of the worst States for gun control, those of us who could carry had very few restrictions. Yes I think that will change.
On the other hand, I'm like you. Have unrestricted permit, don't hunt anymore. Pretty much just collect and build fun guns that piss the liberals off. The level of scrutiny has been set to prove that mag limits, and aw bans are unconstitutional, and I'm willing to deal with whatever bullshit they come up with to get those rights back. Concealed is concealed.

You shouldn't need a permit for any of that stuff.
The only thing you should need a permit for is to *reserve* a public space for your exclusive use.
A group protesting in a park shouldn't need a permit at all, unless they intend to interfere with others use of that park (even if just by sheer volume of participants).
Need to close a road for your parade ? Get a permit.
Just standing on the shoulder with signs, after walking from wherever you legally parked should not need a permit.

I'd love to see someone apply and just say "To express my support for the 2nd ammendment in any place it's legal to do so".
Not hunting, or target shooting, or self defense, but for political expression. Deny this permit and you violate at least 3 amendments.

Who doesn’t need a permit in New York. Oh, wait. The answer will be the police right? The “permit “ comes from everything they did to get the badge. Background checks, the training and the “ restrictions “ the job puts on their on and “ off duty” conduct . You would be complaining if you had to jump through all the hoops someone does to be a police officer, just to carry a gun. I’m not talking actually doing the job, but just the steps to get into the police academy. Then add the bs supervision.
And they can suspend that ability to carry that gun without ever committing a crime. And with the current decision, the permit holder has more due process rights than that officer
