I agree 100%. But these kids were trapped in a government mandated disarmed zone, where SRO's were hired for that protection job. That's their job. It's what they collect a paycheck for.

It is absolutely not the job of police to take a bullet for another citizen. Sorry.

Agreed, but it is their job to actively intervene when a violent crime is being committed in their presence(which by default would protect the lives of the unarmed victims).
